Driving a bus with genuine Prevost factory OTR heating and air conditioning can be very deceiving. You will be completely unaware of just how hot it is outside the bus…..until you step outside.

I just ordered the batteries, they should arrive by thursday. Now I just need to figure out how I’m going to get them installed. Not looking forward to that. Two back surgeries and a neck surgery has taught me not to lift them myself. I may have to get creative and make some sort of lift.

If it works for a Suburban from Lufkin it outta work for a pickup from Mckinney. Based on all the great responses and experiences everyone shared I’m going without a shield and see what happens. Blue Ox Aventa tow bar (10,000lb) and base plate on the way. Coach was already set up for M&G brake system so that’s next for the truck.

Joel, It might be. I wanted a 20 foot car, not a museum piece because I want to tow it. There are a couple of other non-standard touches, but generally it is unmolested.
Gil, everybody makes the assumption the old cars were heavy and solid. Actually they were junk compared to what we drive today. They are crude, the frame and body are simple and cheap because things we now take for granted were never on the old cars. The old cars did not have the crash protection we now have. The brakes and suspension are flimsy and inadaquate. But they were simple and if driven in a manner to reflect their level of sophistication they are a fun ride.
When I took a test drive I pulled the old 3 on a tree into first while we were rolling. The salesman did not realize I had double clutched. I thought he was going to have a heart atack. I’m sure he expected the transmission to grind itself to death. The transmission is not much bigger than a large lunch box. The differential and axle are tiny. The driveshaft looks like it is about 2 1/2″ in diameter. Everything is way smaller than I thought it was when we had that car’s twin when we got married.
I’m finally going to get to use a timing light and dwell meter again.

Nice job there Gil. Are you gonna start a side business and install lights? Put me on the list. My 91 has been indoors all it’s life except the once in a while weekend trips out and the rear lights are getting a little faded. Might have to try this update. Looks good!

Bob stumped is an understatement!
i practically live at the bus shop when not working my regular job and have discussed this issue with everyone there and they all know everything I have tried and they too ate stumped!
Short if removing the radiator and having it rodded out, there’s not much else I can try other than a rebuild of the motor but carrying 50+ oil pressure, and no smoke, I hate going that route!
Thinking seriously about removing the air deflector that I fabricated earlier and see if I can’t move the hot air out with fresh!
It was also suggested that pulling a trailer with a seated coach could be sucking the air straight down the sides since it wasnt designed to pull a trailer and not allowing the air to terbulate behind the bus to vacuum the heat out! ??????

I’m glad you figured it out and she’s up and running. What’s a “spade terminal”? I’m not familiar with that.

Any suggestions on the best place to buy a Thetford Tecma Silence toilet?

Have in motion Winguard dome on mine. Had something original on top when purchased. Pipe Creek boys (Texas Custom Coach) installed Winguard. Cost is just 10 bucks a month when added on our at home bill with Dish.
