    Georges,

While the information Gil and I provided is accurate with respect to most Prevost conversions it is not necessarily universally correct.

It is 100% accurate to state that you cannot have 2 or more unique sources of 120/240 volt power getting into the coach because of phase issues, but without knowing how a specific coach is set up we really don’t know if provisions were made by the every coach manufacturer to automatically transfer loads to the source with the greatest output or if some owner intervention is required. We also know as a coach ages some owners opt to get “creative” and they make modifications that are illogical and unsafe or have the potential to be unsafe.

I do think you will be safe to state it is OK to have multiple power sources connected or operating on conversions done by known and respected converters such as Royale, Marathon, Liberty, CC, etc. as long as they are unmodified.

If the people you are explaining this to have a conventional RV or an older, possibly owner modified RV, Prevost or otherwise I would be reluctant to make a blanket statement without qualifying it. I have seen some really dumb and dangerous modifications.

We might be dealing with different opinions of time. At the beginning and end of every trip I have to drop and raise the front end on my coaches.

If I don’t I either drag the belly or knock off the satellite dish.

I have NEVER raised the tag to encourage my coaches to lift in the front. It takes a couple of minutes to lift but it goes 3 or 4 inches past the driving height. When raising the front returning to the garage I put it in level low and raise the front while I am backing up the driveway. By the time I reach the top it is all the way up despite the fact the weight that shifts over the front axle due to the slope of has got to be considerable..

When I raise the front I know I am fully up because the compressor cycles off and the air dryer spits.

The 97 had about 14,000 on the front, the current one has just shy of 18,000 on the front. BTW, to be sure I am not going to wipe out my satellite or spoiler or the top of my door opening I am always starting to raise the coach from zero pressure in the air bags because the level low is in the manual position with all three position switches “down” until I intend to raise the coach so maybe I just expect it will take some time to raise.

Well, we’re down to our last day of the excellent Snot Ball Fest and I’m sure there is now a shortage of Oysters thanks to Larry and Jon.

Last night was Pizza night compliments of Prevost Community and each member received a $10000 to help offset the high fuel cost. Aren’t you feeling bad now that you didn’t make it?

Hope Michael and Vita are feeling better, we missed you!

    Wave,

If you ever see Jon’s driveway, the first thing that would come to mind is, that’s impossible! If you don’t high center your Daughters driveway, it will back up.

Only way I could my 2 stroke Jimmy to 9 mpg would be to drive her off a cliff. It Even then it would have to be a long drop.

Bob, One thing you will find is if you have a generous supply of fuel on board you have the opportunity to significantly reduce the cost of fuel. You will not be wearing out that American Express card,

I used to have 298 gallons in the previous coach. And that coach had the pre-emissions Series 60 and weighed about 6000 pounds less than the current coach. My comfortable range was 1800 miles. It was not unusual to do a round trip from Knoxville to anywhere and back. Along the way I scoped out fuel prices and if any were the cheapest, on the return that is where I fueled. More than 67% of my refueling was in excess of 200 gallons so saving a dime per gallon bought me a Happy Meal or two.

I think your coach is going to get better mileage than I got because I think the transmission you installed and the gear ratio is going to be a very good combination so you may be one of the lucky ones saving so much fuel it overflows.

Having picked coach up from Prevost Houston Saturday (yesterday) trying to isolate leaning (bus was up at Ft Worth 4 weeks ago with same problem (no fixie but sure chargie) It’s down on left side (drivers) this morning. Replaced all airbags this trip plug more valves. Replaced 3 valves up in Ft worth 3 weeks ago. It was leaning on other side when taken it. Go figure. Gonna figure how to get this up in air, blocked with jacks and look myself. I don’t think It will go back with this problem. You can throw thousands at this in Prevost shop and still have the problem. Good Luck Steve.

    Ps.

Had drivers window fixed with fog issue. Got one thing fixed. Yee Haw! Will let you all know what they hit me on ticket. Service manager said he ran out of ink figuring bill out and would email it to me for payment. this week. Gonna tell him Obama”s sequester will delay payment!

Update: I have an appointment for April 15th in Jacksonville to get my coach looked at for the panel issues. Just so everyone is clear, when you go for the inspection, you don’t get any repairs done. They do the inspection, forward it to Prevost Canada and wait for them to decide what they will or will not do and how much they will pay towards the total bill. I was told that it would be summer before I could get the coach in for repairs as they are backed up at present.

I just did a little calculation on just what it will cost in fuel to make two round trips from Duluth, MN to Jacksonville, FL for this exercise. 3072 miles round trip times 2 = 6144 miles dived by 5.5 MPG =1117 gallons of fuel at $4.25 per gallon comes out to $4747. And this is just the cost of fuel! I suppose fuel could come down between now and then, but that is what I just saw yesterday on a sign locally for diesel.

Then you have to look at the time to get it repaired. It could take weeks to get it done completely including paint work. So I would likely have to either drive the toad or fly home and back, as sitting there for week(s) is likely not feasible. So then you add on those costs (fuel, food and motels if one drives, cab fare and air fare if one flies) to the above. Even with Prevost picking up the entire cost of repair, it is still a pricey venture.

If we can work a vacation into one end or the other, it would help somewhat, and we will likely try to do that. But the fact remains it will take two trips to get it done.

I guess this problem isn’t so little, or simple when one thinks it through…..and it appears that many of us who own XLII’s will be doing this very exercise, so get ready to make your plans!

    Bob,

If you have the ABS sensors mounted internally on the differential I don’t see how changing gear ratio in the differential affects them.

The sensors are measuring the rotational speed of the axles and comparing both to one another as well as to the steer axle rotational speeds or RPM. Your rear drive wheels are going to be rotating the same speed as the steers regardless of the driveshaft speed.

Am I interpreting what you are saying correctly?

There is an LED replacement bulb available for that application. Much brighter and cleaner light.
