We have owned three class As and have spent the money to store the motorhomes in a enclosed garage. In the complex that we used each coach had it’s own stall. I did not want the coach to be in the elements between the times that it was used.

    Rudy,

I closed off the coolant circulation valves at the engine to keep heat out of the coach when we’re driving. Would closing the circulation valves keep the Webasto from firing?

    Jim,

There is no problem on our end, so here’s a suggestion…

In Chrome, click on settings, then advanced, then privacy and clear browsing data.

Then sign out and back in. If this doesn’t fix the problem, it’s beyond my pay grade.

Hello Charles, do you have the turbo hose part number you ordered? What info was necessary to get the correct one? Thanks

    Stretch,

We have found a lot of problems that occur between a service provider (or seller) and coach owner are rarely one sided. The greatest issue it seems is communications, and that issue is made even more difficult when the coach owner is unfamiliar with the coach. That is one reason we stress an exhaustive inspection / training program for new buyers of a coach. That way both parties are together and seeing the same thing.

Once there is a distance between the two the difficulty communicating clouds the issue greatly.

    Hang in there.

I think another PC member manually retracted their cord without removing the bumper, but it was a total pain and very slow. Tom’s solution is no doubt better.

Could you also just take another switch from something you’re not using and move that switch to the power cord in/out? I would think they are all the same part, just labeled differently.

A good starting place here would be to determine just how Stretchs vintage Techlink is suppose to work. I doubt in 98 the Techlink could be viewed on the TV’s like my 02 and probably is viewed at the backup monitor.

What did Marathon TX tell you was wrong with the Techlink? If you bought the coach from Marathon, did it not work when you made the purchase?

OK sounds like you are ok for the next 10 days while staying in the bus? Putting the coach to the road position is the coach air up?

    Davy,

Sounds like what I had going on a couple years ago coming into KC, except my cycle was down to about 2 minutes. Once I parked you could hear the air leak on the air brake controller. I replaced it in KC with a rebuilt one and just replaced that with a new one this month as the rebuilt was showing a VERY slight leak when we checked it.

Not saying that is what it is, but the symptoms where exactly as you described. Lucky the leak wasnt so bad that the onboard compressor couldnt keep up with it. Not sure I would have gone much further then I did (about 100 miles total).

Allison now lists “recommended” fluids as being those meeting TES295 specification.

If we review the maintenance schedule it shows fluids other than those that meet the specification above have a very short maintenance interval. Apart from the cost of more frequent required fluid changes, my concern would be if a retarder is used the high temps generated would damage the fluids if other than TES295 fluids are used.

To the best of my knowledge clutch wear could be an issue prompting an early need to either replace clutches or rebuild the transmission. My guess is Allison started pushing very hard for the use of the synthetic fluids as a result of long term experience with the transmissions. There is a huge difference in cost of the two types of fluids, however $300 or $400 cost of fluids per fluid change might be cheap if the transmission life is compromised. I had to replace a transmission on my second coach due to excessive clutch wear. I always used Transynd, but did not know what fluids were used previous to my purchase of the coach.

As stated the little things are often the underlying causes of what can be expensive problems. I don’t think any of us can do a perfect pre-trip inspection or even do 100% perfect maintenance, but if we can keep updating our inspection procedure and adding to the maintenance events we might avoid nasty surprises.

Our collective experiences can help us draft a comprehensive pre-trip inspection or a detailed maintenance program. The pilots among us know the value of both good pre-trip inspections and a complete maintenance schedule. Events that put us along the side of the road are rare, but when we do end up with disabling problems there is often an underlying cause that a good inspection or maintenance schedule would have prevented.

Everything from checking the air system at every opportunity the bus is in the air, to spinning the idler pulleys, to checking tires, to prematurely replacing air bags or brake chambers is a part of preventing surprises when we travel.

It seems anal to keep inspecting things that never have problems, especially things that are never listed anywhere on any inspection procedure issued by Prevost or Commercial Driver check lists, but the things our members find can create serious problems are as important as checking the brakes or fluid levels.

Gopd advice from Jon, but try AJ Madison. That site sells virually every brand and provides the manufacturer’s specifications for each product, including dimensions. Shipping of the appliance is free and fast (but maybe not fast enough for Bella Terra). I used their specifications and purchased from them when I did a conversion to a residential refridgerator on my last motorhome.

That said, be careful on the specification for height of the appliance. Samsung did not include the height of the top mounted hinge assembly in the “overall height’ specification on the french door refridgerator I purchased. That 3/8” made a difference in installation…don’t ask me how I know this..

Put all of your beer in a pre-cooled Yeti or its equivalent and bring it to Bella Terra. Drop it off at my coach, and I promise to keep it cold for the entire weekend.
