Webasto burner
I had my Webasto serviced in April. Went to fire it up today just to exercise it and only the fan came on, not the burner. I tried both the 12v water heater & 12v heat.
Is there some kind of separate fuse, breaker, relay or reset for the burner itself?

When the burner blower starts and the burner does not fire, there are several things to check.
If the High Limit Thermostat is open, the fuel solenoid will not get power. So no fuel, no fire. The High Limit Thermostat has a resetable button that you can push in to see if it is the problem. If the button moves just a tiny bit, that probably means you have reset it. If the button is hard to the touch and does not move, that means it is not open. The high limit, control and meltable fuse thermostats are located on top of the heat exchanger near the rear of the unit.
Second, the ignitor coil must arc to the ignite the fire. No arc, no fire. To check this, remove the 4 screws holding the coil on the top of the buner. Unplug the two wires. Connect the brown wire to ground and the other wire to battery voltage. It should fire for 100 test touches without fail any of the times you touch the wire to power. If it arcs, reconnect the wires, brown to brown and the other wire to the other wire.
If both tests are good, post again or call me for more tests. Wish you had my test box to make things easier.

I closed off the coolant circulation valves at the engine to keep heat out of the coach when we’re driving. Would closing the circulation valves keep the Webasto from firing? -
No Sir.
Closing the valves at the engine prevents the Webasto from preheating the engine when you are sitting and not getting ready to travel. The engine absorbs a lot of heat that could be used for interior heating when you are not ready to crank the engine, i.e., saves fuel.

Do you have fuel showing in the fuel filter? I had a similar issue when I bought our bus and the Webasto had lost prime – i.e. there was air in the fuel lines going to the tank. The little Webasto fuel pump will not be able to pull fuel all the way from the tank once prime is lost before the controller cuts power.
I rigged up a little $30 fuel pump to suck diesel back through the fuel filter. Once the fuel filter and fuel hoses are primed the little fuel pump will take over.

I looked for a reset button last night and didn’t locate it on top of the black box which is on top off my burner. I saw green & red wires but not brown.
Im out for a few hours this morning but will te look at it during good light. May give you a call if you don’t mind.

The thermostats and the high limit reset button are under the cover on the top back of the heat exchanger.
The brown wire is underneath the coil. To see either area requires removal of something, not just looking.

Terrific assistance, but determined it was not the thermostat. He spent plenty of time talking me thru the various components, although I didn’t have his $1,000 tester. May be a bad coil.
He hooked me up with a colleague of his in Denver to help me out next month when we’ll be at Estes Park. It’s so great having contacts nation-wide.

As you can see Rudy is not only the Webasto guru, but also a fantastic work supervisor!
We had a bad wheel bearing on the tag and Rudy fixed us up with his network. All fixed and back on the road.

Dan called me while I was in the car to share a possible solution to your situation.
If the coolant valves at the top of the radiator are turned off it stops the circulation of all coolant from the Webasto heat exchanger causing the high limit thermostat to trip.
Dan closed his and tripped the thermostat. He then opened the valves at the radiatior, reset the high limit thermostat and all is now well.

Interesting, but I think all my coolant valvesl are currently open.
