As a routine matter the Jake or retarder, depending on how the coach is equipped should be enabled at all times. The retarder does not have to have the selector in any of the active positions, but by having the switch on it is automatically going to assist proportional to the brake force used.
We need every means possible to reduce our stopping distance.

Buddy, excellent pics!!! Thanks for sharing!
That blue Volkswagen bus has caught my attention. Must be a custom job as it has three doors on the driver’s side. When I was 20 in 1978, I bought a ’73 VW bus (baby Prevost…LOL), had so much fun with it….it was a rare one with an automatic transmission.
Looks to be about a ’64 or so, hard to tell…. no side lights and no head rests will put it before ’68.

I think I overheard Jeff saying to the boys, ” one doughnut per day boys”!.
And yes they are good workers and Jeff said he would put them up against any tech at Prevost. ….
I think they are super hard workers, knowledgable. and above all have great attitudes!!Steve

Ronald,
That’s exactly why we’re working on this subject, all of us will eventually be faced with an Appraisal for stated value insurance renewal or new coverage.
Or as Jon pointed out referring to an owner who suggested just keep buying Appraisals, maybe he’ll find one that doesn’t spell it Provost and can’t understand why there is no Onan Gold generator.

Other than changes to accomodate greater front axle ratings I seriously doubt if anything else on the chassis was beefed up.
If Prevost had retained the 315 tires they were absolutely maxed out on the 18,000 pound axles and their rating exceeded on later coaches with the 19,000 pound axles.
Changing tire size does nothing to increase the axle rating or limits. There is a whole lot more that goies into axle ratings.

Sounds like there are some interesting things to see… and some to avoid…
I believe we will stay at Catherine’s Landing in Hot Springs, Ark… then at Tom Sawyers in Memphis…. then move on to Louisiville, Ky. if I can find a suitable place there as well… I would like to take a side trip by car into the countryside to see the horse operations in the area… We have an interest in horses having been in the ranching business for many years at one time…(never had many horses because I never trusted anything that ate while I slept).
then to South Bend… to beat up on Notre dame!
Breaks the rip up a liittle.
Thank you all so much.

Thanks Al, please review the photo, let me know which one are we talking about, White arrows or Red? If red, do I have to remove power to access or just remove cover and replace 7.5Amp fuse? If remove power is suggested, where do I do it?

Fred, not sure of the specific thread size but I cringe a bit thinking you want to add one more joint that could leak. I would tend to go OEM and try to get a little more length out of the existing hose, but that is me. But if you pay a little more, I could probably come up with a more expensive recommendation.

Thanks Fred. Fortunately the 804 is vented should be easy to replace with like model. I have also looked around on the internet and found some sources at around the same price point. But when I was looking, I also saw several other brands of vented combo machines. So I was wondering if the newer model Splendide is as reliable. I know that there is only one source for parts and about as many service techs to repair it. If I went with an LG or other brand, certianly parts and service would be easier to come by. I just do not know if I would need them more often.
So in making this decision, should I stay with Splendide or move on to another brand and why.

I
just received new mirrors and arms from Ramco, a 4 week lead time,
and I’m sending them back. Out of the box, the glass was more loose
than the ones on the bus that are 13 years old.Called
and talked to Mark and he is having them sent back and the heads
reworked. They appear to have a new motor assembly that will fix the
shakes, I may be the guinea pig to see how they work. I’ll let you
know…

Wow! Very nice barns. I love the pictures. I bought an existing barn that is 30×64. The door is nearly 14′ tall and 17′ ceiling. I put a 50 amp plug inside and out. Water is at the road and hooking into the water and existing septic is next on the list. If I was building from scratch I would not build any smaller.

Hi all, just wondering what chassis battery tender to buy. I just replaced my chassis batterys and I’m wanting to add a tender just to keep them topped off. Our bus can sit for six months without being used 🙁 so I just thought it might be a good idea to install a tender.
