Hey peter, Think I have the same model in mine and have run the aquahot for heat without water hooked up to coach if that what’s you’re asking. Of course I’m dumber than a rock on my bus! Have been told I do things I shouldn’t.

    Tjones,

Those are valid questions and I’ll just make a comment based on my own experience.

I’m on my 5th bus, the first 4 being XL’s with rivets. This one is a 2001 Liberty and we wanted to move up to the XLII because of the bigger windows and more open to the outside feeling you get. What I gained other than the windows was a current model Prevost with 365’s on the tag and steer, IFS and smooth sides.

I was not in position to roll the dice with panel problems and chose to purchase from Liberty with the Rivet Process already in the works and when it’s done, I’ll have piece of mind knowing that the delamination is a thing of the past for me and in my opinion, it will add value to the bus.

Can you find an XLII that does not have the delamination problem, of course. You as the buyer will have to do your due diligence and enter into your transaction with the knowledge that you have learned, assuring you have done your homework. Maybe you will find one in your price range that has already been done, or, you may find a great deal where you can just plan on the Rivet Process and still remain within your budget. Even better, you find one with no panel problems and you’re in the driver seat.

Bottom line, it will be up to you to make a deal that fits within your budget and only you can sort that out. So go buy a bus and join the fun.

They know better, I don’t look that old! Besides, the give away is the soup can he holds to his ear with a string to the other can while backing in getting instructions from Di to turn the wheel. She deserves a metal.

Thanks for the update Mark, I feel your pain for the time and expense ahead of you.

My bus was already scheduled for the Rivet Process when I purchased it and I will be taking mine to Jax on May 1st. This process will take a minimum of 4 weeks at Prevost and then another 2 or 3 for paint. I will lose the bus for 6 to 7 weeks, but I’m fortunate to only be about 400 miles form Jax and my expense will be chump change compared to Mark.

Like Mark said, if you have an XLII, you may want to get your inspection done ASAP because of scheduling.

    Charlie,

You probably want to shop for a “cabinet depth” fridge. I replaced the Amana in my 94 Liberty with a standard cabinet depth fridge and shopped for one that had the closest dimensions to the Amana. I also found a like laminate to cover the front and trim, so it was a really close match. I had the appliance company deliver the fridge to my bus barn.

I did abuse my son and son-in-laws though, they provided the muscle and not a scratch!

    Thanks Jim & Chris.

As they’ve mentioned, it will work. However, I will say, the older the DDEC, the fewer messages that are transmitted. Some of the default gauges will not work. I put two mechanisms in place for you to deal with that however.

In the edit screen, you can remove gauges that you know don’t get data.

Or, in the settings panel, there is a “Hide Unused Gauges” switch. When this is ON, when the gauges are first displayed at startup (or when changing orientation or gauge type), all the gauges are blanked out. As they get a message, they are activated and become visible. This keeps non-used gauges from ever showing.

When they fixed mine, they did not do it like this. The cleaned out the edges that were lifting and re-glued the area. No rivets were installed. No extra material over the edges either. It must depend on how bad it is, or where exactly the problem is in relation to the edges.

Not sure I’m seeing these???? the coach is gutted from kitchen forward, and I can see the factory plywood that seems to cover a long metal box that runs the length of each side of the coach from front to rear. It isn’t for wiring, since the wiring is inside from what I can tell some type of plastic tubes….. I don’t see any vents from these metal boxes or ducts… where would the toe kick heaters be?

    Jon and Gil,

Thanks for your comments. I suspect you are correct and these are just normal noises driving a 50klb vehicle over anything but perfect roads. I’ll focus my attention on other things such as OTR and Techlink. Good thing I enjoy researching and fixing things.

    There’s the problem.

You wouldn’t take your Chevy to a Ford dealer would you?

You do know that the old Fairlane may be towed with the rear wheels on the ground as it has a front pump in the tranny , if it is still stock . I belive you have seen my 55 chevy that i tow rear wheels down it has a 350 turbo trans from a1976 impala , i also towed it with the 4 speed stick . Neaver had trouble.
