When I had my 4106 built in 1992, the Aqua Hot with four exchangers up and one in the plumbing bay was $7,000. That was 20 years ago, so it’s probably reasonable today. Paul.

In the Eagle we built, we made our own system using a Webasto Scholastic furnace and a Lowes 12 gallon water heater. The Webasto pump circulated the water from the burner to the water heater using the one set of connections and one of the the Eagle heat system pumps pulled hot water from the tank from the other set of connections on the tank and supplied the heaters in the bus. Had the Eagle pump wired to run anytime a thermostat in the coach was calling for heat. Worked great much cheaper!!!

Don’t see why you would need fresh water in the tank Peter, but you would need to make sure the water heater has water in it if your using the electric.

Maybe a dumb question, but why not just use space heaters? I have one on each side of my plumbing bay. Thermostats were added and set to 40F.

Since I am unable to post a new thread for some reason….forgive me if I piggiback my question onto yours.

I have no hot water since this morning!

Aqua hot worked fine yesterday, today nothing! Checked coolant level and it was low, so I added 1 gallon but it still is not working, only cold water. Am I missing a circuit breaker or some kind of reset procedure? Thanks for any advice on this.

    Georges,

On my Royale, the switch was under the sink along with the Insta-Hot. I think there was a dedicated breaker in the 120v panel in the bedroom. There are 4 snap disks under the small panel inside the box where the Webasto is located and it’s possible one of those that senses the water temp has gone bad. In other words, it thinks the water temp is at the correct temperature and has shut off the heat coils. Snap disks may not be the correct description, could be limit switches, but that’s what they look like and you can check them by using a meter and checking for continuity. Mine was a 97, so your’s may be different.

I can show you where they’re located if needed since we’re both here at Riverbend.

About 2 years ago the AC heating element in the Aquahot burned out. The element is in a low point in the boiler so removing the element will drain the system. I don’t know how your electrics are set up in your coach but on mine the heat element draws about 9.5 amps. I use the meter in the coach to confrim the element is working. The socket size for the element is 1.5 inches.

Thanks for the replies, I don’t know how to check electrical currents.

But I checked and reset the breaker in the bedroom panel, no improvement and I cannot locate the snap disks/limit switches, so where exactly is Riverbend, perhaps we can meet up?

Oops, sorry, wrong George… I thought you were here for the RV show.

Depending on your Aqua-Hot model, if you take off the cover where the Webasto is located, you will see a metal inspection plate on the side of the panel held with 2 screws. The discs are behind the cover. I don’t know the function of each disc, so you’ll have to find a manual to figure that out. Here’s a good site for Aqua-Hot repairs.

On a Webasto/Aquahot there is a heat limit fuse that melts ($35) if you run the heater with insufficient coolant or an air pocket in the coolant lines. You can temporarily short the two white wires to the fuse on top of the heat exchanger or test for continuity.

Never mind. Read your post again… the above only applies to diesel operation of the Webasto.

But I do have the diesel Aqua Hot model # 431/12. Tell me more, I looked at all the fuses they seem fine.

Hey peter, Think I have the same model in mine and have run the aquahot for heat without water hooked up to coach if that what’s you’re asking. Of course I’m dumber than a rock on my bus! Have been told I do things I shouldn’t.

Well, I had a certified Aqua Hot tech here the other day and he fixed it. Likely cause of the problem was low coolant level, which resulted in an internal circuit breaker/fuse to blow. He reset it, works fine.

    Georges,

Did he give you any indication as to where the coolant may have gone? Also, where was the fuse or breaker located? Others may have the same problem one day.

Didn’t say where the coolant went, but the coach sat in Texas for about a year prior to the trip to Florida when I aquired it.

He removed the main cover off the Aqua Hot, there is another small cover about 6″ square held by 2 screws, inside there are 2 fuses at opposing ends, it was one of those.
