  • 93 Prevost Condenser Motor reset Location

Posted by Archived on September 20, 2012 at 9:30 pm

I had the coach in for some PM work and they keep it for 5 weeks! They left the disconnect switches open, severly discharging and recharging the start batteries multiple times. Needless to say the almost three year old batteries did not survive. I made the service center replace all the batts. But they screwed that up also.

The vanner was misconnected so the balance light stayed on and the over the road AC condenser motor no longer runs. They corrected the vanner wiring. But I had to make them stop troubleshooting the AC to actually use it this weekend. We did open the condenser compartment and removed the cover on the electrical panel there. The 30 amp breaker was reset but did not resolve the problem.

The book says there is a reset for the evaporator and condenser fan motor in the “last LH side baggage compartment” But on this Angola conversion. I can not find them! In any Bay!! This may be as simple as resetting the motors. Can anyone shed any light on where these resets may really be located.

    Thanks

They may have fried the equalizer by hooking the Vanner wires up wrong. No experience with OTR, but others will jump in here.

On three different vintage coaches I had three different locations for CBs and relays relating to the AC OTR system.

One was on the ceiling of a bay, and another had everything in a white plastic box in with the condenser motor. The point is you should give Prevost a call, or check with Pantera who has a lot of knowledge about your conversion.

But before I did that I would check the wiring to the coach chassis batteries. After I was sure it was correct, I would check it again. Just to be sure they did get it right. The OTR uses 24V and draws a big load so I would want to be sure it is correct from the starting point. Once you locate where the circuit breakers and relays are for the OTR then I suggest you check every one of them. It is entirely possible in hooking up the battery cabling wrong a circuit breaker tripped.

    Tom and Jon,

Thanks. I’ll have another look in the cool of the morning. We had the cover off the plastic box yesterday and I only saw a 30 amp ( I think) breaker which was tripped and reset. The Tech said everything had voltage but the relay was not pulling in for the blower motor. I did not not have a look at the wring diagram as I was trying to make them fix their problem but with a 300 mile drive ahead of me I called them off at 3:30 and hit the road.

The vanner seemed to behave normally on the drive. But I will double double check the wiring. I’ll also contact Panterra.

    Thanks again.

A CAT service center, who also claims to work on busses.

    There’s the problem.

You wouldn’t take your Chevy to a Ford dealer would you?
