Hi Gil,

It was pointed out to me that the ECU gets its information about temp from a different source than that dash gauge and an inaccurate gauge would not adversely affect radiator fan function.

Don’t really know how to take that? Have a friend that has 108 tractors. Haven’t set foot on the boat this year. I love the bus building and people involved. If you think your going to make a big killing on resale, you might be one of the 10% that gets lucky. I met some fo the best people in the world(thru Bussin) that seems to bridge some of the economic class gaps that exist in our society. Shame you have to be old to realize what is important. I’ve had installed a magnum inverter/charger and remote control inside electric panel in my 1991.withih the last year. The old one shorted out and fried battery bank. It was automatic and would charge batteries when needed when plugged to AC. Mine is a simple set up but you have to push a button to turn on inverter. It also has a battery button also but I leave that on so when plugged in to shore power it’s charging batteries. Your vanners are supposed to charge house batteries off engine alternator when going down rode. Or at least that’s the way mine is supposed to work.

From my shop experience if the hole is in or near the side wall the patch will not hold, due to tire flexing.

Hot patch from the inside is the way to go as the repair will be permanent if installed properly.

Tell the kids part of there job is to watch for nails in the highway so you can miss them.

And I, using the theory of life supported by Jon prior to his acquisition of the XLII, replaced them with manual. Haven’t missed the power but the oem Liberty electric valves are easily opened in an emergency with minimal tools as previously mentioned.

Adjust the valves at 100000 miles its cheap insurance I do all my trucks at 50000 miles when they are new then at 100,000 miles never a problem with them if people say not to tell them to pay for repairs when it breaks down on highway just my thoughts had generator done at 2500 hours they where out put new thermostat in also poor maintenance means break downs take your chances or do it just my thoughts

Any good auto paint store can mix you some paint that should be a near perfect match can even put it in a spray can . They have some sort of a hand held machine that they hold over paint on the vehicle and it tell them what to mix to match it . Most do this for free if you drive to them , i assume for a small fee they would come to you.

As Jon says, the thermostat should begin to open at about 190 (I think, based on the performance of our coaches) and should be fully open at about 195 allowing complete water flow. BUT, the fan is freewheeling until low speed kicks in at about 204 and hi speed at 208; therefore, there is reduced air flow through the radiator until the coolant temp hits 208. It would probably be possible to lower the fan points to say 196-200 which, in theory, would mean a 10 degree reduction in max temps to 200. If you lowered the fan points to 192-195 (like Jon’s locked up fan, in theory the coolant temps would not exceed 195, as Jon experienced.

Unquestionably, the higher use of the fan would negatively affect fuel mileage and I have no idea what it would do to emissions or the fuel injection mixtures. I would probably try lowering mine to 196-200 IF I knew the whole story of the interactions.

All good suggestions so far and I hope you don’t have to remove the cylinder. I had to take mine apart because the “o” rings were leaking air. Hopefully it’s the regulator or something easy.
