Between the stainless and frame there is a thin sealer tape. JVC-Ultra bond I think—Going to call Prevost service tomorrow. will post response. I am replacing siding discolored from a electrical fire. very thin almost putty like. Bob

Granvil, Tom Johnson in Marion N.C. close to Ashville they are a Amadass dealer and Vantarera should be able to fix you up and they have a 10 acre campground that is the best!

Boater Al………you need an attitude adjustment.
I’ll talk slow so you understand. The Lobstah will cost what the tree cutter says it will cost. So think of a trip to Maine as an opportunity to get lots of cheap Lobstah.
What the diesel fuel cost relates to is smiles per gallon. You bought the bus to drive and enjoy. You like driving the bus. You enjoy seeing this great country. The cost for that enjoyment is you have to buy diesel fuel. You are about to travel to Indy and by the time you get home you will be all smiles because you had a great opportunity to drive the bus and hang with great people (like me). You will be burning diesel fuel and you won’t have a single tail to show for it.
Let me know if you don’t get it.
No charge for the free psychiatric care. It’s just another service I provide.

For those whom may be interested there is a flyin in Greenville every year. It is held the weekend afer Labor Day. You can look up the website http://www.seaplaneflyin.org This is the 38th year, you can look on YouTube for more information. If this picture doesn’t make your mouth water, I don’t know what will. – Rick

From memory on my previous coach, Series 60.
Normal operating range based on educated guesses at what the gauge was telling me was I ran normal 200 to 205. That seemed reasonable because the 1st speed on the fan clutch is supposed to engage at 204.
On long steep hills in high ambient temps I would see the temp hit around 208 to 210. I would never see it exceed that amount and when it got to that point, even if still pulling the hill it would drop. Not surprising because the 2nd fan speed is supposed to kick in at 208. If it were to have kept climbing then I would have a problem, but because it got to that point and then dropped it indicated I have ample cooling capacity and the fan clutch was working.
When running with a locked fan the coach would cycle between 190 and 195. That indicated the engine thermostat was functioning. There were no hills or ambient temps I ran in with the fan locked that raised the temps above 195.
For reference the coach weighed 46,600 and was towing a 6700 pound H2 Hummer for a gross weight of 53,300 pounds.
The only time I would be concerned something needed attention would be if temperatures did not stabilize or drop regardless of how steep the hill or how hot the outside temps. If the temps are climbing on the gauge something is wrong. It could be as simple as not enough RPM or something indicating a problem.

Just so it is clear, our priority is to overnight in campgrounds. There are two things that cause us to go to plan B. We want campgrounds within a few minutes of our route. After driving all day the last thing I want is to have to wiggle around on narrow roads for XX miles so if the directions in the Woodalls or Big Rig book shows the camground to be close and easy to get to, we spend the night in the campground. If the campground is not quick and easy to use we also move on. We have been in campgrounds where it is not only a pain to get to and in the site, but the check in process takes more time than what is reasonable for 8 hours of ground and electric. You all know what I mean when I say we have to fill out our life’s history on the registration and then have to listen to a 1/2 hour orientation that includes the combination to the laundry. All I want is someone to take my money and give me a site number. I get grumpy as the day wears on.
One of the best deals we had for overnight parking was a hotel along a route we used often. It was a Best Western somewhere in KY that had a large parking area. You pull into a spot, go in and give the clerk a $5 bill and you had a spot in private property, well lighted for RVs. The second best was Agrirama on I-75 in south GA but I understand that might not be available and that had full hookups for $20. Second best only because you had to fill out paperwork.
But if a campground doesn’t work then a rest area is the next choice. But only if I can get an end spot so my risk of damage is cut in half. I usually have my generator running by the time I turn into the space and at the slightest hint of any peril, whether it is Tom’s lot lizards, or beggars, or dangerous drivers we are gone.
We know from experience stopping early gets us relatively safe end spots in rest areas or truck stops but if we are overnighting in those places it is because there was no convenient campground.
FWIW the last time I ran the numbers and based on current diesel prices a typical 12 hour stop using the generator 100% of the time will cost about $220. I never make overnight parking decisions based on cost.
This fall I may mooch off of the generosity of BCO.

No
Hundred Dollars dollars multiplied by three = $3000
thus
$100 * 3 = $300

I confused the issue by saying voltage in and voltage out. What I did was to check the voltage on the cable connector on the battery side of the fuse and it read 26.5 volts. Then I checked the cable connector on the invertor side of the fuse and it read 7.9 volts. The inverter is powered completely off and I do get a continuity reading through the fuse. That’s why I was thinking the fuse was somehow partially blown to cause a voltage drop.
Thanks for all the help. -
At 106 volts some AC units will drop off line. Some inverters will switch from pass thru devices that are charging the batteries to inverters. They usually have a delay, but never the less they are jumping back and forth.
We have generators. Big capable generators that are used so infrequently they will rust out before we wear them out. If we have shore power voltage issues why beat our batteries up when all we have to do is start our generators and exercise them as they should be anyway?
I hate to travel in the summer because campground power is so lousy and our needs for power is at its greatest. If we have a high dollar coach it makes no sense to suffer with one or two ACs running through the inverters when we can run our generator, prevent possible damage to batteries, inverters or devices that need good power and stay comfortable with everything runnning in our coaches.
I guess its a personal choice, but I vote for comfort and if I have to add hours to my generator I’m going to. At the rate I use a generator it will be a long time before I approach the 30,000 to 40,000 hours of service they provide in entertainer coaches so I look for reasons to run the generator and to run it hard.
-
I only partially agree with Gil. 106 is too low and to continue to run the coach on 106 volts might cause ACs to drop out. The amperage is certainly going to rise.
I would leave the inverters on and start the generator until the campground power is in a more normal range.

I think I am correct (Justin, correct me if I am wrong) in saying what Justin is describing a pair of converters whose purpose is to supply DC power to the coach and to charge the house batteries. The inverter
is not an inverter / charger as most of us are familiar with, but a stand alone inverter.
I am not sure how his inverter guru has set up his new inverter / charger but he has now changed his electrical system to possibly make the converters redundant.
The only suggestion I can make for Justin is that he determines what the battery charging protocol is for his house batteries and to insure the bulk, absorbtion and float voltages are those specified by the battery manufacturer. He now has 3 battery charging sources and they all need to meet the specs for the batteries.

We find Tucson our favorite winter spot, Lazy Days took over the old Beaudry RV Resort and made improvements. It’s a first class large rig spot. The Southern AZ area has a lot of places to explore. Of course were prejudice, Tucson High grads 1953 & 1955.

Does anyone recommend a newer more efficient compressor? Something like a Sanyo rotory?
-
I have removed the entertainment system a couple of times and it really is not all that bad, just make sure you label all the wires.I can use a floor jack and as it comes out and rotate it to the left and then it is out of the way.

Hey thanks, for some reason this thing will not recognize the Mac.
Take one atta-boy outta petty cash for doing me a solid.
Now here is what happens when I post a link on HP boxcarokie.com/2012/01/27/my-favorite-animal/

*For some strange reason, it just will NOT allow me to post a link … Thanks Tom,appreciate it.
