Jeff is right on target! I have a good friend that has a coach that had generator auto-start inside a building prior to their purchase. Every bit of interior fabric/furniture, wall/floor covering etc had to be replaced to get rid of the smell. Perfect now but bad if that occurs.

    Hey there,

First off, we had a GREAT time at the rally, fun to see everyone and wonderful job Tom and Jon!

We do have a black Hummer for our tow vehicle this week 😉 and that was likely us you saw on I 75 however we do not have a green coach and it is not from Michigan? Bob said he should have checked the tow lights to make sure they were on the correct side as there has been an issue with the plug wires in the past with particular coaches. The turn signals on the coach work fine, no problems there, but it might have been difficult to see looking into the sun and past the Hummer? We promise to try and do better next time

Hope everyone made it home safely!

Also go to http://www.ncdot.gov/ferry and you will see a lot of the details, rules, schedules and prices. The Cedar Island to Okracoke required us to have a reservation. Okracoke to Hatteras did not. we had no problem towing the car but we were under 65 feet.

Get a roll and play with them and you will see what i mean. They are cut to length (most have sissor marks) on them where you should cut and you can splice them end to end or splice new pieces in. Really simple when you get into them. Bob

If you watch the NASCAR races on TV, especially the night races, you’ll see that most of the teams have gone from mechanical gauges to fancy electronic gauges with stepper motors and technology that changes the color and causes them to flash depending how each individual gauge is programmed. Something like that would probably look pretty slick on the dash of a prevost. In addition to the analog display, you can also get digital readout and probalby memory to give you maximum reading since the last reset.

Or … if you’re into steam punk … you can go down that route.

    Greg,

Just listen to the syntax, no not sin tax, and its easy to identify who is the “voice” of admin. I could add more but will stop right there since I’ll be in Tampa with both of them admins!

    Jimmie,

For recording trip distances, fuel used, and cost I have nothing more than a sprial bound pad. So far it has 24 years of coach miles. I use that to show where we have been and the purpose of the trip because our coaches were used for business and I can use that log to show personal use as well as business use. All information can be cross referenced to fuel receipts, toll receipts etc. but I have never had an IRS challenge.

For the coach maintenance logs I made up some forms. The first form is multi-page and it has the maintenance event and the desired interval listed for the Prevost chassis, the generator and the house. This is an example:

    http://prevostcommunity.com/articleDetail.asp?ID=7

For each of my coaches I made a version of that specific to the coach. I use that as my checklist because every 5000 miles I service the coach as needed. I need something like that because once everything is zeroed out there is no way to track it without a form such as that which gets filled out every time.

Then I also have a lined log book that I use to record the date and the work performed. A repair would be listed in the log along with part numbers and other details such as date, miles, etc. plus I put a copy of paperwork for the parts in the book also. For routine maintenance I refer to the checklist above, and to research information on other tasks I refer to the log book detail.

I cannot stress the importance of the logging of information. There is too much to remember and without a written history we quickly lose track of everything. But the log books are very valuable when selling a coach. To a buyer it is not only valuable to have documentation maintenance was done on schedule, but knowing the air bags or brake chambers or Norgren valves, etc have recently been done shows value added to a coach. Without proof you have to assume the work wasn’t done, and air bags or transmission fluid changes or engine coolant changes are expensive and if you don’t have to do them you save serious money.

Tom……hard to believe we were in Wyoming last week to pick up the coach from our friends Peter and Trina. We were prepping to leave there Saturday morning, but late Friday afternoon a winter storm watch was posted so they suggested we put it in the wind right now. Good thing we did, the snow and high winds would not have been fun to deal with on our first leg of a long trip home. Thank you Peter and Trina for getting us out of your beautiful state before the weather moved in.

We will have to try and meet up with you when we get over that way.

I know you are out there. You want to go but the cutoff date came up too fast. This is the opportunity to make that last minute rally decision. Get in touch with Wayne or Jill.

Great, Thanks. That is the information I was looking for. I will call Prevost Monday. Has anybody had a problem with the outside tint matching. I would hate for one window to be mismatched.

I can tell you, that last year my battery’s were giving me trouble they were lifeline, they were six years old . I have had lifeline battery’s since 2005 . I was in Canada called Tom had new ones shipped up there at not only the cost of them plus I had to pay shipping into Canada plus duty on them , it was still worth it to me . The service from Tom was outstanding , I would not have anything else !!!!!!! I could have waited until I got back to the USA and got them without the added cost of shipping and duty to Canada but the trouble it causes with waiting was not worth it to me , so I called Tom and got Lifelines !!!! Just my thoughts !!!!!!!!
