Cracked Window
We have just discovered a problem with one of our windows. All of our windows are same. They have a fixed window that curves at the top and then the bottom portion swings out manually.
One of the windows has quite a bit of cracking in the top fixed portion of the window. We hardly ever raise the shade above the half way point and most of the probelm is above the valance so it could have been cracked along time.
It is pretty much cracked like that all the way across. My wife discovered it recently while cleaning the window. She saw a vertical crack extending at least 12″ straight down from all of the cracks on top. She said she knows that part is very new. We have been in extremely cold weather the last several weeks and perhaps cracking that has been there undiscovered is getting worse.
I have not called Prevost yet. I figured I would get advice from you all first. One of the guys at Prevost Houston told me when I was there last fall to be careful with the swing out windows because there is no exact replacement for them now. Is that correct? It is OK if the if it has to be replaced with a different type window if it must be but I am concerned that the tint be the same.
Can just the top portion be replaced or is it all one unit?
Is Prevost the best place to get this replaced?
Am I OK to keep traveling on while trying to work out the logistics of the right place and time for replacement? It could be a few months before I can work out a plan to get to Prevost.

I think all Prevost has is the arm that articulates , they don’t even have the felt washers , I had some made for all my windows. They may have the one piece window but not the window with the awning window. Call them

My experience is with my 2000 XLII only but Prevost gave me the same information. They changed providers and the bottom awning window is not available as a unit. I was able to replace the upper glass in my bus with new product.

Thanks guys. That’s what I was thinking. Thankfully the awning part is in good shape.
George, Did you obtain the upper glass from Prevost?

My glass was replaced as an insurance repair. The repair itself was not done by Prevost but I believe they supplied the glass. I will try to verify and post again.

On your vintage coach the top glass is installed just like the windshields. Pull out the rubber strip in the middle of the gasket and the top glass can be pushed out and a new one easily replaced. Go to the service manual section and you will see how Prevost describes the process.
I suspect replacement side glass is readily available from Prevost, and if you do not wish to tackle the job yourself and competent glass installer can do it for you.

You can only get the top part of the window for the awning window I think prevost has some , no bottom glass or they have whole window. You can not get the whole awning window just top part or one piece window with no awning window

Great, Thanks. That is the information I was looking for. I will call Prevost Monday. Has anybody had a problem with the outside tint matching. I would hate for one window to be mismatched.

On my coach it is impossible to tell which window was replaced. I would say the tint was exact.

I called Prevost Parts and the top portion of the window is $757. It is in stock in Canada at the moment. He said anybody could install it.
My concern with having a local shop install it is this. What happens if they break it while installing? What happens if they break the bottom part while installing? Do they take responsibility?
Am I safer to schedule it done at Prevost when I get near one?

Those really are the easiest windows to install….I would think any window shop would stand behind it if they damaged it or something else….

Off the subject but I started the thread, are you authorized to work on Aqua Hot? I am having serious problems. and have been in contact with Mr. Berke the Aqua Hot guru. I will start a different thread when I know a little more.
