Two Slide Tom, I did the same thing you are doing but the gaskets I got will not work because the material is too thin to take out the curve in the lights housing. Those from LMC Truck were on 85 86 or 87 pickup trucks where the cab lights for the cargo area were.

The new lenses really look good just wish I could find gaskets thick enough to work on the light housings.

The festoon bulbs just don’t have enough leds on them to be bright enough.

I know you have been through this but I just spelled it out so others would know what we were talking about.

I hope you like your new name I gave you, Jon’s is going to be “Crestron Jon”

    Jon,

Would you please bring your ‘bubbler’ to the Know Your Prevost training in October. I would like to see it and make one. Then I can patent it and sell enought to members to pay my annual PC dues.

Brady, you and Tommy need to come so we have representation from Louisiana at the event. Of course if it interferes with football we know that is going to take priority.

Just a guess, but could it be to prevent starter engagement with the engine running? Some ignition switches will not go to the start position after being released until being cycled through the off position for this purpose.

Thanks for the support there, Mark. Don’t pretend to know me or my scenario. When I said I didn’t have more than three days at home between now and the end of August, that’s what I meant. The bus sat there from Sunday night until Friday two weeks ago. It was the one block I had off and that’s why it was important that they work on it. So no, it doesn’t “obviously sit for more than three days”. It just did that once. Love it when people would rather be know-it-alls than add something constructive to a conversation. And you weren’t with me that night in Jersey. But another entertainer driver with 35 years experience was. The two of us made a determination and we went with it. If the leak had gotten worse, we would have reevaluated it and made a decision based on that. It was the right decision, regardless of what an armchair quarterback thinks. And how did my bus suddenly become unsafe to drive? It had an issue with a brake chamber. Me and this crappy old bus of mine (in your eyes) probably put more miles on the books than 80% of the buses on this site. It may not be as shiny or new as some of these, but it does it just fine. One issue that wasnt fixed correct doesn’t make my bus unsafe.Yes, there are things I want to get done to it that I’m having trouble getting done, but for you to sit wherever you are and decide that my bus is unsafe to be on the road is ridiculous. And don’t call me stupid again. I don’t take it kindly.

I’ve called Prevost several times, and in each case was told that I could bring it in in a week, two weeks… Whatever the time was. My bus never sits for more than three days. I’m on the road 20+ days a month. Whether anyone buys it or not, it is a fact in the Nashville area. I finally did have an appointment with them last week to have them check my issue with the front shocks. But the ‘other shop’ that had a week to work on my bus and let it sit there until the last day, finally had it in their shop so I had to push that appointment back. Trust me, it’s not that I like being stressed out over my bus. In fact, I hate it. But it’s just what it is…

    Al and Mary Ellen,

Tim and I were just together for the past several hours working the AaCC. He will give you a proper response to your question shortly. We are actually just waiting to receive some updated printed material from our marketing department.

We are really looking forward to this event. I wish I could bottle and sell the enthusiasm Bill and Tim bring to the table when they talk about what promises to be an outstanding rally.

All PC members should mark this on the calendar and we should see if we can make this a 200 coach event. (I think I heard Tim groan when he heard 200 coaches.) Remember……….if you sign up and attend, free dues for a year.

This is not intended to be a joke.

When you are at a rally or meet up with another owner of a coach of your type and weight do a drag race. As an alternative maybe we can poll our members and any that are on the road can time a zero to sixty time and report on the forum. Then you can compare yours.

You likely cannot compare performance to other coaches unless they are quite similar. Even if a coach such as your previous one weighs the same the engine may have a different torque curve or the transmission may have different gearing or the rear end ratio may be different. My first coach was a snail on acceleration and acceleration was almost non-existent at higher altitudes. But once it got the revs up in first gear it pulled strong and would catch and pass almost any other coach until it hit its top speed of about 72.

Add your coach information to the signature line. It helps with answers. If you haven’t yet done so weigh the coach. Not only will that help in evaluating answers it will help you use the proper air pressures for your tires. Without knowing your axle weights you do not know what tire pressures are correct.

What model year? Engine? DDEC II is likely an 8V92, but adding coach info in the signature line is helpful.

Under normal circumstances DDEC II coaches will only shut down due to low coolant level, low oil pressure and high coolant temp. Did the dealer check all three. Coolant level can be fooled by putting a paper clip or wire between the terminals on the connector. I think the same with the other sensors but that needs to be verified.

I don’t know what fertilizer they are feeding you, but in one day a competent shop can replace all your brake chambers, relay valves, run a check on your air system and have you back on the road.

One day for air bags. Another part of a day for Norgrens.

Taking a chance with a brake system is asking for trouble and no matter what the cost to have it done correctly, it will still be cheaper than a tow and a repair.

$175 for a combo brake chamber like a 30/36 is high but not so high I would consider it to be gouging.

    Jon;

Why do you charge oil so frequently? My owner’s manual says 15,000 miles or annually.

Aight, Jon’s oil is golden, mine looks black to me. I see black smoke when it drops a gear, only for a second. Are they related? Mine is pre-EGR.

I’m sure somewhere earlier in the thread you stated the actual mileage; don’t know where it is but assume it’s low from latest comments. Because of this fact, have you contacted DD (you may have to make some noise going up the chain of command) to ask them to participate in a portion of the repair due to both the premature nature of the failure and the runaround you’ve gotten in determining the problem. It’s not unusual for manufacturers to pay a portion of the repair bill on product out of warranty which fails prematurely.

If you can safely get under the coach, and you can get at the brake chambers you can cage the emergency brake. If the brake is still dragging, you should then be able to back off the slack adjuster. Is the emergency brake the problem and is it due to a failed diaphragm? If so caging it is required, and then you have to plug the air line going to the emergency brake.
