Jon, you rock ! I’ve been preaching the benefits of “Resto-Rods” for a long time. People our age try to re-create their fond memories of certain cars we had when we younger, and forget how awful they really were. I think you just might start a trend within the Prevo community. I know you got me thinking. Geo

Thanks Corey & George, I saw that Larry & Diane are getting a new coach and that they would be listing it once they get settled with the new coach. I am not sure of the coach that they have that will be coming up for sale, I look forward to hearing about it.
The reason I have pursued non slide is because this will be our first coach and we think with the learning curve and potential for issue will be reduced by mot having slides. But that by no means says I will not have them if they are part of a coach that we decide fits.
I like the large tank capacities, the simplicity of the interior of the coach being as is at all times.
I talked to Rex at Panterra today about the 02, he has a showing tomorrow to a customer flying in.

As a rule of thumb parts are correct with no problems. On this occasion it didn’t go that way. However on Marks coach was something very different and possibly never used on motor home shells as it turns out. Going by vin works almost always but once in a great while you will see something very different. When I sent pictures and they still couldn’t figure it out for sure I knew we were in trouble…..

I dented a driver’s side stainless steel panel a couple of years ago. I scheduled repairs for Jacksonville on my way back to NC from Naples. The next morning the parts container was there with two panels. That was good since one of the panels was already dented. Fortunately, at least I thought so, the second panel was not damaged. I was watching as the techs removed the old panel and began fitting the new panel. It seemed to me to be taking an unusual amount of time to match up the predrilled holes in the panel with the existing holes in the structural framing. Well it turned out the two new panels were both predrilled for the passenger side. Now I did not care for the “fix” but did not have days to spend either. So the techs actually drilled a new set of holes in the structural members so that a passenger side panel could be used on the driver’s side of the bus.
The parts I order through Elgin, Illinois are always spot on what I need for the job. Tom Irvin is my go to guy up there.

Welcome to PC…
Awnings…if we leave our coach awnings are in, no exceptions
Mice…we always have mice bait traps around the bus barn. In the fall when there activity is looking for warmth I change all old baits to fresh. With our bus barn that’s 2 in every stall, front and rear.
Ladder…Bill’s .recommendation on ladder with cushions is a good one.
LED’s …the best service and quality products have been with http://www.superbrightleds.com

Thanks I do have both
the chassis Delco Remy 75 amps and house alternators one is a DN 50 270 amps.
The Delco Remy 75 amps that charges the chassis battery may have the internal
voltage regulator. I will check with Marathon on this issue.Gil
All of my engine
batteries are lead acid, the house batteries are Lifeline and charge on these
should not exceed 28.4 volts. -
Hish,
Your voltage regulator should be on the bulkhead above the chassis batteries.
However, not all our coaches are set up the same way and not all of our alternators are for the same purpose so keep in mind any information here may not apply to your coach or others.
The Prevost service manual presumes your 50DN is a 24 volt alternator and it is used to charge the chassis. Your converter may have used it to charge the house batteries because it wanted its large output to handle running some air conditioners through inverters. In that case it is possible you have a smaller second alternator for the chassis, and those smaller alternators typically have internal, non-adjustable voltage regulators.
To add to the confusion, some coaches have 12 volt 50DN alternators for the house.
I have no experience with how your coach is set up so if your problem is related to the chassis make sure you understand how your converter has set up your coach to keep the chassis batteries charged.
If you only have the single 50DN alternator you can adjust the voltage regulator but keep in mind it is charging the house batteries and you do not want to deviate from the charging voltages the house battery manufacturer calls for.

Hish,
What is your pro driver saying on the dash? 13.5 is about right.

Jim,
Thanks again for the additional information. It has been so helpful. David will be back from his business trip this weekend. He didn’t want to leave our email address on this site and I don’t see a way to privately contact members here. We will contact you soon so that we can exchange information.
As you may have read in a prior posting. We have all the pages to the Beaver Coach July 1990 Service Manual. David is going to take this to work so he can scan these long schematic pages onto his computer. I realize our bus is older but those that don’t have a copy of this service manual might find it very helpful as it goes into details regarding the different components….we even have the command center schematic. My guess is they used the same systems but may have located them a little differently in the later buses. This book should provide very helpful though we still have to trace how/where each system was installed. We would be happy to send a copy to anyone else who doesn’t have their original service manual as this would be very useful in troubleshooting various systems.
My guess is it will still be a few weeks before we get the bus home to start troubleshooting further as we are taking care of a few repairs first. I plan to take it to a service place we have used here in Vancouver to get the bathroom fan working again and a few other items we had noticed. Then we will bring it home to tinker with it further.
Thanks again. Judy
PS…Anyone here with the Beaver buses belong to the Beaver club? We just joined and will probably attend some of the northwest rallies next year. It would be great to get a couple of the old buses together at a rallie one of these days.

I picked up a squeeze tube of “Power Grab” today for the three loose pieces of Vitricor we have. How do you apply it to hard to reach places?

Peter must have been sound asleep, I blinked the lights and waved, but got nothing in return. Then my phone rang and the ole cowhand was giving me a hard time. Mstruk4u was covered with a blanket, freezing from this awesome dash air with secondary fans behind the driver.
Peter couldn’t wave, he was hanging on for dear life holding that wore out front end on the road.
Gotcha Big Boy…..

Heck Mark, He gives everybody a free membership.
I supply him with Mahaw jelly and Texas jerky and I get in free to.

Larry,
You beat me to the punch. I was going to see the 2005 Liberty that you bought on Saturday, but got a phone call for the owner Mike on Friday and told me the coach was sold.
Enjoy it looks awesome….
