No, just be sure you have a 50 amp extension if you have a short cord. I had to go about 60’.

Attached are pix of the charger setup I inherited with the coach and the exploded batteries. It was and plugged in so I had just left it that way, even after changing the batteries 2 years ago. Obviously an aold unsophisticated setup. My question is why didn’t it fail earlier? The batteries that I changed out 2 years ago were 3 or 4 years old.
The acid was a mess to clean up, but the batts sat in an impervious tray in the pan. They had two drain holes so there was minimal contract with the frame and the pan they set in. The cover shielded the rest of the engine. No damage beyond the batteries themselves. Installed new Delcos and all systems are go.
The folks at the battery place I bought the new ones at said they had never seen this kind of exlosion. Mostly they see cracked cases, but not blow outs.

sound like you have house batteries that are the kind you add water to and with that converter/charger #1 still working you are boiling your batts. As stated above remove it or at least turn it off. Sometime when new technology is added the old technology was not completely removed.
I found in my coach that I have a transfer switch after the inverters, that dates back to the original conversion when converter/chargers were all you had available.

AITA prefers the use of the app. What you get instead of a card is a screen on your cell phone that shows the front and rear of your card so using your phone you present the “card” and if the cashier has questions you show the reverse side of the card with all the instructions and codes to key into the register.

Hi Dick,
This day I didn’t take it for a run. I started it and ran it on high idle for 30 minutes, took it off high idle and had it run on idle for a minute. I then shut it down and turned off the power sources. I also had the generator on and ran all air conditioners to put it under load.

Keeping your RPMs up (say 1,800-2,000) going uphill helps with speed and cooling. Putting the transmission in “Mode” vs “Economy” will have it shift more quickly helping keeping RPMs up. Turning off the “OTR” A/C will give you another 30 hp or so.
Coming downhill (say 6%) shift into 4th gear and put the jake on high. Watch your RPMs (don’t go over 2,100). Don’t ride the brakes coming down a hill.

Thanks everybody. Just wondered why so many were unloading their H3’s. They are both great looking coaches. I think the Xll will work better for our needs. I’m still mourning the loss of the “one that got away” I’m not sure we’ll find another like it. But I’m still looking. I think we have now seen every Prevost for sale in the country online! -

A couple of weeks ago I called Hearthside for a reservation in the fall and told them our coach is an ’06. I said I had heard about their “10 year old” policy. I was asked to send a picture before they handled the reservation and as long the appearence was acceptable I would get a reservation. I spoke to Jason.

I had a few sending units fail on my 08 so it might not be the gauge.
