I have the SilverLeaf dash in my 99 CC XL 45 and it does display the gears. It also displays stuff like when the Jake brake is activated, the brake is depressed, crusie is on etc…

I don’t know if there are any differences in our coaches but mine will not display gear selection.

It does everything else just fine.

There may be a little diffenence in that one year.

The problem is at Buddy’s age he can’t see the nice digital gear selection readout on his shift panel because that distance is right between the distance/bi-focal range on his glasses because he refused the bi-focals with lines as he’s still a young studly dude in his own mind. Seriously, I couldn’t make this up.

I have Silverleaf on my coach and love the digital readout on my coach via a Windows tablet. It does display the actual gear I’m in. It came in very handy this summer when driving thru the Rockies for a couple months, along with all the other Temps I can monitor.

Hey Buddy;

Let me check my coach tomorrow and I will let you know. I have a 40 foot, 1999 CC like yours.

Now my coach was the last one off of the line in December 1998 and CC may have changed something during the 1999 model year run when they came back from Christmas.

I know the CC Glass Dash displayed 12v and 24v output, but the Silverleaf only displays 12v output and Silverleaf told me they did not know where to grab the 24v output.

I’m trying to get to the bottom of this problem and I think it has nothing to do with glass dashes or silverleaf, but the choice of a CC. I suspect Michael may disagree with me.

Liberty owners always know what gear they are in.

Jon, SilverLeaf is telling me my coach was at the tail end of production that the DDEC did not report the info and was not available untill later coaches. SilverLeaf is telling me the 99 chases do report gear selection.

I think you have DDEC III and if my memory is correct there are a lot of coaches with that version using Silverleaf with no issues.

I have the analog dash, but augment that with the Silverleaf VMSpc run on a small windows tablet. I cannot display transmission gear on the VMSpc setup… I have sniffed & scanned several times with the VMSpc program with no joy. I was finally told by the Allison/DD folks in Nashville last year when I had our valve clearances set that the tranny gear info was not available, our vintage coach didn’t pull that into the system data. Our Chassis is an early 1998 model – actually manufactured in late 1997.

I have the same Silverleaf set up as you, so the difference of a couple years in the chassis must make the difference since mine reports the gears.

As I said earlier, my coach is a 40 foot CC. The Prevost chassis is dated August 1998, making it a 1999 model year coach. It was the last Prevost conversion completed by Country Coach in 1998. It came off the line in December 1998 and was delivered December 22nd. To my knowledge, and I may be wrong here, I think it was the last 25th Anniversary coach they built. Because it is a 25th Anniversary coach, it has features not found on other coaches.

Every driving screen on my Silverleaf displays R-N-1-2-3-4-5-6 and shows what gear I am driving in.

Just a thought, because I’ve found myself in the same situation you described (engine screaming because I had forgotten that I had manually selected the gearing – Karen says I can’t hear crap either)…I haven’t followed up on the idea, but maybe a smaller racing type tach mounted somewhere in the dash instrument scan area with a red light “shift indicator” would help, if it’s a large enough problem. I assume someplace like Summit Racing has tachs that you can set your own shift points…Don’t think it would be all that expensive – the largest headache is making sure it would be compatible with the DD and then the wiring & mounting.

As I said, just a thought…
