Brett, We full time 6-7 mos. in the summer in a single slide H. Previously we did the same thing in a non-slide XL. We were certainly more comfortable in the non-slide XL than in any previous multi-slide “plastic” coaches previous. We went the H route for the taller bays and larger windows. Originally we were looking for a 2-slide Vantare, but ended up with the single slide because this bus was special in a lot of ways. The only real reason we wanted the bed slide was to not have to do the shuffle past the foot of the bed. We solved that by installing a wall hugger bed (details are in the Up Dates thread dated around May or June ’15). Our experiences with the last two Prevo’s has convinced us that we could easily full time year round if we so chose. We put on 20-22K per year and could NEVER go back to driving anything we owned previously. Plus the service and support that is available to a Prevo owner is unparallaled. That combined with the actual driving experience and the redundency and robustness of all the other systems on our coaches, makes the thought of anything else a non-starter. Hoping that this adds some clarity. Geo.

Brett:
We aren’t full timing in our non-slide Prevost … but here are my two cents.
How tall are you and Momma? I’m 5-7, Cathie is shorter. I think being short in stature helps make a non-slide coach work. I think that a taller couple would have a more difficult time in a non-slide vs slide coach.
Just my thoughts.
Note to those of you out there debating between a plastic coach and a Prevost bus. Please look closely at what Brett said about the money spent on non-Prevost coaches over the year. Geo Prentice has told me the same thing more than once. Don’t test the waters with a plastic coach … dive into the deep end of the pool, get that Prevost the first time out, and you will not be looking back.

That was it. I appreciate it.

Beautiful bus Al.
Can’t wait to see it, really pretty.
This aint Truk’s last bus, everybody knows who the Boss is and when the Boss wants something, well you know.
When he recoups from building this mansion in Florida he’ll probably start looking.
He’s like my dad was after he rebuilt it two or three times he would get another one and start all over again.
Oh and by the way, does that one have slides !!!!!!!!!!!

I know with my old coach the chassis part has never failed but the other goodies that make it fun is always something. On the chassis part, I always have a level 3 done everytime I change oil at Prevost. 8500 to 10,000 miles. They are the ones that found a hub seal and a couple other minor issues over the years. Level 3’s are a Cheap insurance but doesn’t mean it’s a catch all.

We had the opportunity to use Signature Coach Works Beaumont earlier this year.
Our aux. compressor was coming on every 17 min. They found that the ‘quick connect’ for the aux compressor was causing the problem. They put on a new one and we were good to go. It was done quickly in less than 30 min.
It’s very convenient to have them out West. Liberty recommended them to us for house items.
As mentioned above, taking house items to Prevost Mira Loma would probably not be a good idea. They are excellent at Prevost chassis service.

Andre,
If they are bringing the mink piss to Bella Terra, there is no need for you to bring me any. Thank you very much for your generous offer. I will see you at the rally.
And yes Jon, I figure I will drive between 25 to 30,000 miles between now and next April at 7.8 mpg. I do better when the wind doesn’t go by coach so fast.

I have a 315 on a steel rim under the bumper – fits great. But I have a really old coach.
Maybe use a tapemeasure to figure out what it’s hitting on.

Dean,
Use a hose clamp to attach to the ring, then you can easily get a good grip on the ring and turn counter clockwise to remove. I did all of mine, 39 and broke 2, so you’ll have to get them from Marathon and the supply is dwindling. The little plastic tabs break.

I would always get the 950 or higher rated one. You never know when you might need extra capacity. I had a fuel issue with the last bus and had to spin it over many, many times while we were trouble shooting the problem. Lesser batteries would not have lasted as long.
Also, if you live where it gets cold, that extra cca capability comes in handy too.

I have my eye on a race at COTA which I think is near Austin which is a week after a race at NOLA. Would Wisc to NOLA to Austin and back to Wisconsin put me close to Houston?
