Do you have hot water to the sinks?

Is this the first time you used the coach? From your description it is not revealed if this is a new problem or a problem that has existed and you are just finding out.

Some thoughts without the benefit of other information……….somewhere after the where the drain splits to go from the shower drain to the gray water by pass or to the tank the drain pipes have blockage. If the plumbing system is similar to my last 2 coaches you can remove all the piping from the end of the tank and see and fix what is causing the blockage. All of my drain lines associated with the plumbing at the rear of the coach were easily accessed and serviced. It might involve time to get everything apart but nothing has to be soldered or unthreaded. It was all just hose clamps.

I don’t know this for sure and this is a guess, but I always had the sense my shower control valves in all my Liberty coaches were thermostatic / pressure mixing valves. That means the valve senses both the incoming water temperature and pressure. If for example the incoming cold water supply had a pressure drop, the valve would automatically reduce the flow of incoming hot water. Similarly if the cold water temperature was warm, or the hot water temp was excessively hot (such as when heated by the engine) the valve would restrict the flow of hot water to the extent necessary so the water flowing through the valve did not exceed the set point temperature. These valves are designed to prevent scalding.

That means there are internal parts that are moving to regulate the flows to meet the set point on the temperature control. If there has been a period of no use, especially if the valve has been operating with hard water the internal parts may be unable to move as intended. If there is hot water everywhere else in the plumbing system my focus would be on the valve. Try exercising it to see if various settings or incoming water pressures such as no hot water supply or no cold water supply will get the internal moving parts moving.

All the above is a brain dump with no basis in fact. Don’t be shy about revealing more info, no matter how seemingly unrelated.

Hi Jon thank you for the information. I don’t believe that it is a shower valve issue because I am getting no hot water to any sink or even the outside shower. It is as if a hot water valve is totally cut off. I have moved several valves around the hot water heater to other positions and back to the original ones that I found it in. The tank feels hot so I think that we do have a water blockage or cut off problem. One note. Prior to this happening I had a pin hole size leak that leaked the water tank down to zero. That problem seems to have stopped. After I filled the tanks I made the mistake of pulling the valve to drain down the hot water heater – I thought that the leak was in the heater itself so I thought I would bypass it. After that didn’t work I put the valves back in their original position but I have no hot water.

As to your first question I have had the coach for a year and never had this problem. The coach has had a 6 month layoff while a new front clip was put on it by Excalibur. (Another problem but thats for another day).

I am taking the coach to Prevost Service Center in LA on Monday. Hopefully they can find out whats going on. Otherwise I am afraid my entire trip is kaput. If that happens I will have a coach for sale. The wife can handle just so much of this crap.

try resetting or turning water pump breaker off then back on. If you have a leak anywhere – the pump will shut off sometimes without tripping the breaker. Worth a try…as happened with me with my cullingan water treatment system…

I can feel your anger in your rant and I feel for you and so do others but I can assure you being pissed off with your wife asking you why are we having all these problems and trying to fix your bus pissed off doesn’t work.

We have all had like situations and wanted to set fire to one at a certain time in our life.

I don’t know shit about how a 98 Liberty was plumbed and if you are going to Prevost in Mira Loma which I believe you mean by saying Prevost LA, I can assure you they don’t know shit about it either. This seems to be converter related problem not Prevost related.

Mark: Please don’t sell the coach … at least until Lorenda has had an opportunity to enjoy it. We have a 1999 Liberty (albeit an XLV). They probably aren’t that different. Call me in the morning 8am CDT or later and I’ll sit at my water and we can talk about what does what in the bay. If you don’t understand it, how Liberty configured it can be confusing. Once Jeff Rowe walked me through the plumbing logic it make sense. I’m at Road America for the Indy Car race and will probably leave the coach by 9 or 9:30am CDT. 262-365-9088

Call Signature Coachworks in Beaumont @ 951 845 8056. They are not far from Prevost in Mira Loma. I believe they are a Liberty authorized repair facility. They should be able to find and fix your problem.

We had the opportunity to use Signature Coach Works Beaumont earlier this year.

Our aux. compressor was coming on every 17 min. They found that the ‘quick connect’ for the aux compressor was causing the problem. They put on a new one and we were good to go. It was done quickly in less than 30 min.

It’s very convenient to have them out West. Liberty recommended them to us for house items.

As mentioned above, taking house items to Prevost Mira Loma would probably not be a good idea. They are excellent at Prevost chassis service.

If you are getting no hot water or very little anywhere and the water heater is actually working then check that the water heater bypass valve is closed….The thermastat does have a reset button on it as well just FYI

check the back flow valve on the hot water line coming out of the heater. I experienced the exact same problem you described and the check valve was the culprit. About 12 bucks and thirty minutes wife was grinning again.

Guys – thanks for all of the suggestions. Since we are going to be in the LA area all week I contacted Signature Coachworks and told them my predicament. They agreed to work me in (hopefully) if I left it with them all week. Not a problem. I assume they can fix the freon leak I am experiencing too, although that is minor.
