I believe the issue of engine temps falling below the ideal temps is the concern of DD.
A diesel engine such as we have should be on high idle for longer idling periods, such as to run OTR or keep the coach warm.
This should be of concern to folks who store their coaches for long periods and think they are doing the coach a favor starting it every few weeks. If starting it periodically is something an owner wants to do, the best thing is to get it out and run it long and hard until everything has come up to temperature. It takes my coach at least 25 miles and often more to get everything up to temperature.
There is nothing we can do in stop and go traffic, but we should not spend a large percentage of time in those conditions.

A few AutoFest pics.

You’re not wrong Tim, I choose to manually operate my gen, but leave the autostart on for the reason you stated. While at Autofest, we left for half the day and I forgot to turn off the salon AC button. Got back about 5 hrs later, gen was running and AC was purring away. Even if I didn’t have the autostart active, my inverters would have shut everything down at 12 volts saving the batteries, but the fridge would be without power.

I am with you, Jon.
When fuel was $4-5 per gallon I exercised my generator 3-4 hours each month and ran when needed but I avoided using it over night. As diesel prices fell I used it more and more. Since we are usually on a straight path to get from point A to point B with as little stopping as possible, we hardly ever spend a night in a $30-50 campground any more.
It is much cheaper and convenient for us to stop at Flying J, a rest area or Walmart and run the generator all night than to pay for an overnight spot in a roadside RV park. Plus I am pleased to miss the hassle of narrow roads, low trees and flakey power. I can also drive later and leave earlier without worrying about waking up my neighbors at a campground.
There are times when an overnight place makes sense. Sometimes we need to take on water, empty our tanks, use free wifi or do laundry. However, most times we crank the generator and enjoy the ambience of an RV spot in the front of a Flying J. My daughter says she knows she is at home when she hears, “Shower number 5 is now ready.”

I did not get to changing the thermostat. The coolant bottle bracket mount will not fit with a drilling some new holes to place it in the exact position of the old bracket. I will get that done soon since it is not a big deal. Interesting that the old collant bottle a line running from just below the radiator cap to the bottom of the bottle, and an overflow line running from the top of the coolant bottle to the ground. The new coolant bottle a line running from the below the raditor cap to the top of bottle, and a line on the opposite side running down the side for overflow.
The belt felt a little lose so I tightened up. Made sure the collant bottle filled mid-point. Started the generator. After 25 minutes the gen set shuts off. I was watching as a swith to the left of the engine popped out and shut it down. This time as watched inside I do not see the Battery indicator charging at all, and I do not see the temperature increasing at all. Different from when this started happening.
Any ideas?

Toilet was on passanger side.

That gauge is the aux tank , was your toilet on the drivers side ????? if it was use the are line from the toilet put a check valve in line not in the Gen bay and a pressure regulator and hook to Gen air bags

Tom,
Hope the overhead does help your mileage, as I’m due to get that done and the bracket upgrade in a couple weeks!

Keep making good posts like the above and we will consider cutting your dues in half.

Thanks Jeff great idea, I don’t want to chase and remove wires under the bus. Next time we are near you, we will pay you a visit to find and locate all the pesky air leaks that Prevost built into $500,0000 coaches to save pennies on the right connectors. I understand cost as an automotive engineer but not when I am only building 2000 units a year.

Tom,
Do you mind posting a picture of how you have it installed/mounted? Do you start and stop it manually or does it go when you start the key or when it senses movement. I use a gopro a lot for the travel videos I create but don’t t record 100 % of my rolling time….
Thanks for the reminder.

315/80R22.5 Michelin XZA2 Energy tires out of stock? Looking to buy six and cannot find locally and Michelin says they are out. I am set up with the Advantage program now but I cannot find the tires I need. Any suggestions where I can look to locate?

They have gotten good comments. That vintage HWH slide is hydraulic and there have been some issues with the hydraulics.

That sounds like the right number ,I would have to look to check
Tim I had a coach that would do the same thing from the bottom to ride height no problem but to go up past that no way , it had the wrong air bags and pedestals, once I changed them out up it went no problem
