Rear Airbags, Brakes, etc
I’m in the process of changing the rear airbags, piggyback brake chambers and diaphragms, tag lift chamber diaphragms, inspecting & adjusting brake components, and lubing everything. I’m doing one side at a time. This thread is about the driver side. Things are easily accessible when all three wheels are removed. Here’s what I’ve found so far.
Someone? had done a bad job of changing the #36 diaphragm in the tag lifting chamber(see pic-old is left, new is right) so it leaked. I don’t ever raise my tag so it was no big deal to me.
With age rubber brake diaphragms become stiff and deformed. See the pic of the new vs old # 16s & 30s.80K miles and brake linings/pads have 75% of their life left in them.
