Agreed. Flexplate/converter doesn’t know or care if bus is moving in fwd or reverse.
Likely most stress on the flexplate and bolts are under lock-up in higher gears at full boost.
One advantage to an Eaton Roadranger

MemberMarch 25, 2021 at 10:43 am in reply to: Finally Found Accumulator Tank & Needs ReplacementA1,
Remember a while back when you said I know I have one but can’t find my accumulator tank? Well lookie here, pull the fridge. OH MY.
Gosh Jeff I wish you would of posted this a few days ago. Frank Jr Liberty was at MCCC in the desert this past weekend and it would of given me 15 minutes of conversation about his engineering skills.
They used to put a filter under the fridge and now they graduated to a accumulator tank, wow.
No reflection on you Jeff, your doing a good hands on job on your coach.
This goes under the category of you don’t know what you don’t know.

This is all very interesting and mostly as to the RO system. All worked perfectly until I changed filters (?). The ice maker works but the coffee system nor the drink fountain is inop. So, as to Dicks questions I wil check the valve on the hot water heater but we have hot water.
I will need to investigate this RO system thoroughly, it may be the culprit.
Thanks everyone

Yes, I installed a diff temp gauge and don’t generally have a problem with hills but rather high speed (70-75mph). I occasionally need to reduce cruising speed as low as 65 to keep diff oil at or below about 250F. If I just kept my foot in it at 75mph in 90F heat, I can easily exceed 300F.
I have:
1. removed the full width rear mud flap for airflow
2. changed to synthetic oil (changing about every 25-30K miles, confirmed necessary)
3. gone to super single tires/wheels on drive to get more airflow over bearings/seals. Used to have drive axle seals fail every 50K like clockwork. Assumed it was a heat problem but a brand change on the seal helped.
Still on the original diff at 240K miles but I just had pinion seal replaced. For people who use these buses as heavy haulers, I think this is the most overlooked weak point.
I have toyed with the idea of installing a racing style diff oil cooler but..

Ordered a SR-1 valve part#286364RX a remanBendix part and a new double shuttle valve Bendix part # 278614N all from Find-it-Parts Reman SR-1 valve $90.24 new shuttle valve $27.85, I can tell old parts were original parts.

It may say no overnight, but I have spent many nights there.
