18 wheelers, big trucks, busses, etc don’t bother me. We all share the road and just want to get to our destination without drama.

We’ve had Falken on our Yukon Denali for almost 5 yrs and 60k miles. They are pretty worn out now but have given us perfect service.

Al, over the years on multiple sites there have been photos of buses (not RVs) that have had collisions, rolled or dropped from heights.

Without a doubt they all suffered serious damage, but what is almost universally consistent is the chassis structure remained intact. Obviously in front end collisions with anything such as a truck or bridge or tree the front occupants are injured or dead, but in any kind of roll over or upset the occupants get really banged up as they get tossed around, but the chassis structure is never ripped apart, torn off or collapsed.

If my coach gets airborne I am likely getting thrown around and injured. But I am likely not going to be crushed by the coach that is only a floor or flat bed chassis that has lost its upper structure. What happened to the Foretravel likely would have thrown our coaches around in much the same manner, but I am certain the “bird cage” that comprises the chassis is going to function like a car’s “roll bar” providing some protection.

If my coach is picked up and thrown I have confidence that my structure surrounding me may get seriously damaged, but will remain intact. I hope.

I am sure that Tom referred to streaming movies on his laptop because that would be eating into his data pot.

The only way to avoid using data is to not use it. But, of course, we all do. Some more, some less.

Us, for example, we are full-timers. Between all the surfing, streaming Netflix or Amazon Prime, running our business, etc we do easily go through 100-200 gig of data every month. That would be very expensive without an unlimited data account.

Especially, right now, or during the past couple of months when everything was closed and we just sat around doing a lot of nothing. Outdoors, anyways. We watched all the disaster movies we could find … 🙂

The best data device to have is a hotspot because it connects to all your devices which could include a smart TV. Once you connect your devices to the hotspot, they will auto-reconnect every time the device is nearby.

Having different plans for different devices will add up many $$$ and is not efficient. It is much better to have a big data pot to dip into.

” So what’s eating up my Mobile Internet Data is streaming TV’s and MacBook Air”

Help I am not that knowledgeable about internet data. I understand how streaming tv’s would eat up data, but help me understand how a MacBook Air would eat up data. I assume a MacBook Air is a laptop.

The wife reads a lot of IBooks. Does iBooks eat up a lot of data? We constantly have problems with our data limit from our “unlimited” data plan. Do not have streaming tv. Any suggestions how I could get this under control?

some carriers being useless in some areas …

We arrived in Myers Flat, CA this afternoon. This is about 3 hours North of SFO. Off of Rt 101.

Sprint: NADA, no service at all. Period.

Verizon: About 9-10 Gig down.

AT&T: About 15-20 Gig down.

The interesting part is, for me, anyways, that AT&T did not do well at all in Petaluma, Ca, just 40 miles North of SFO. It was Verizon and Sprint who were best.

Now, here, in Myers Flat, AT&T is best.

Incidentally, we are staying at the GIANT REDWOODS RV & CAMP, 400 Myers Ave, Myers Flat, CA 95554 (707) 943-9999

Pull-through site # 7 with FHU, 50A and about 75 feet long. Sites 6 & 8 are equally long.

The Eel River is in front of us about 200 feet away. Good water levels and flowing strongly.

I’ve noticed that neither me nor any of the other folks that I know who smoke good cigars and sip a little corn whiskey have had the virus. We don’t have much problem with mosquitoes either.

I think there could be something to it.

check battery voltage. should read at least 12.75 each at rest. ddec requires min 11.5 to even operate. where are your batteries? example read 12 volt on meter actually= 50% charge

I have a question maybe you can help me with is there any thing special that has to be done to wire in the new headlight harness or just Remove the old plugs and pin in the new harness?

I think your coach has a Vanner monitor such as we are discussing in another thread. It likely is a monitor problem, but just verify it by using a voltmeter to get voltage readings at the input side of the monitor. The monitor will trigger an alarm if the 24 volt readings are less than 24, or more than 30. If that is the case and the reading is outside the range you have a voltage regulator or alternator issue. If the voltage reading is steady within the range the monitor is likely going bad.

If the light bothers you, disconnect the power supply to it on the output side of the monitor. Just be aware you will not have a warning light so you will need to monitor your gauges.

All input and output terminals on the Vanner monitor are marked.

I believe there is more than a perceived cost difference. The cost/quality of materials used to construct the coach and the dedication to the quality of that construction makes a big difference in the price. Many (most?) of the Prevost’s were built to order so what the owner wanted can vary for fairly basic to way over the top. Marathon and Liberty do (did?) build some spec coaches and show coaches but the majority of coaches were built to order. I am a fan of Royale for the specific reason that they then to be more a common mans Prevost with lower prices and less glitz and glamour. They are all different and they are all unique so you have to go in and do your due diligence on every coach you might consider.

The way most conversions are set up you can use pumps to draw water from your tank or you can connect to city water (with the tank fill valve closed) and use city water exclusively.

Over the years we have learned to never rely on city water for a variety of reasons, some of which that are converter specific. We have been in RV parks that had inadequate flow or pressure and prevented us from showering while washing dishes. On the other side of the issue we were in a campground in Salt Lake City that had so much pressure it was opening the pressure/temperature safety valves on HW tanks.

Our last two coaches had Headhunter toilets. They work very well, but require a high pressure large flow and we cannot get the flow or pressure needed on all city connections so we just rely on our pump which is sized to provide all the flow we need.

There is no right or wrong way so we all can do the water supply any way we want.
