Brett, that bus is here at Parliament right now…would you like me to look it over for you? Geo.

We are planning to attend the show at the TCC Monday. By luck we happen to live about 20 minutes from Parliament. Is there anything at a No Rally, Rally for lurker/lookers? Wednesday is pretty booked, as is Thursday late afternoon. But otherwise open. Can you just barge in? Like to meet some of the faces behind the posts. Thanks!

It’s been 3 years but the Lazy Days KOA is as good as it gets. We thought Tucson would be full of 5 star resorts when we met a group down there but we learned that they don’t need 5 star places because the snow birds will come regardless.
All the other parks were cramped and had long term trailer living.
KOA was clean, close to the interstate and if it’s still open a restaurant on site.
It reminded me of an upscale Circus Circus in Vegas park.

That would tend to make one think that either the original “Sikaflex” wasn’t strong enough or the application process of the members being bonded together was flawed. One possibility may be that the bonding surfaces were not prepared as well as they should have been on the coaches that have experienced delamination. My XLII is 13 years old and the panels are still very tight and have never been rebonded. Prevost have inspected the panels twice and the results have shown there are no issues with them. So, before you buy an XL series have Prevost inspect the panels. No guarantees but you may be fortunate enough to find a coach that may never have a delamination problem.

I don’t have a system like Les describes on my coach, but after watching our coaches grow in the sense of how much electrical power they could ingest. I saw my generators grow along with the load potential to the point where mine is now 20KW.
Along with the increase in electrical consumption has come slides which grow the size of the coach meaning the coach now also has more interior space to cool. Where I am going with this is I question how a small output generator can cope, unless when boondocking it is run continuously. If someone opts to stay off a power pole that means the coach is going to require the use of its on-board power. That’s perfectly acceptable when there is a big generator. We would have to try very hard to overload a 20KW output.
But if we have a system as Les describes we need to start out with fully charged batteries and are running the generator if we intend to run 3 or 4 AC units plus have all the other electrical loads such as aux compressor, water pump, HW tank, interior lights, maybe the grille or cook top or microwave. At that point we likely are drawing from the batteries.
This scenario gets real bad real fast if instead of having the generator running all the time we rely on batteries alone and expect autostart to kick on the generator as needed to charge the batteries. If you add the inverter charging as part of the loads listed above the generator is going to be incapable of handling everything so some energy management is going to be required.
I realize few of us push our coach and its systems to the limit, but I can easily see someone that pays as much as these cost expecting to do just that. I am likely missing something here and everything may actually be OK with a set up as described by Les, but I would need to see the proof. This is not in my opinion a debate about Li batteries, but a concern that energy we use has to be provided or restored and I cannot get my brain wrapped around a system that is getting smaller in output while the ability to consume electric seems to get greater with every year.

Prevost is the only one if you want them to possibly help pay for the repair. It is not warranty work it is all good will…So with that and the fact that Prevost has the experiance…at this point and time I would take it there…Could other shops do the repair, yes however not with the experiance…..

Oh noooo, I was just at Rudy’s getting the Webasto tuned. He felt bad for me and knocked a hundred bucks off my bill just to compensate for last time my dues doubled!

Thanks for the update jeff.
There’s NO place like home especially when we don’t feel great.. we are praying everyday for Phil and Joanne… I know the road ahead is a rough one for them both. wish we could help !!
Hang in there guys.. better days are ahead.
Very best wishes…. Larry and Diane

Jon and Geo,
Thanks!
Seems to me like 50A/240V service is essential to an all electric coach like the Prevost. We have 50A service on the boat, and that’s needed or we would have to practice some serious load management. Still have to do that on 50A if the ships batteries aren’t fully charged. For the pull in day, we just back off the chargers. 30A 120V just won’t ever work if A/C is needed.
The concept if a 40 fits, so will a 45, seems pretty accurate. 5 more feet is not a big number. We need to do more legwork for St Pete. Being close when not traveling important because we have rental property we can manage completely when not traveling. If anyone has a specific suggestion in this geographical area, we would appreciate it.
We looked at the 98 XLV at Parliament, and liked it. Seems the ask is a little higher than others for the vintage, but we aren’t yet prepared to negotiate. We have to sell our boat/home first. Then it will get interesting since we will be living out of our Lincoln Town Car and motels until we we find the right coach. Prepared to travel if necessary.

Bob, I would check out a ’98 Parliament XLV at Parliament in Clearwater. This is a nice updated bus with a very nice floorplan. Geo.

Thanks, I had used pin #7 to feed the battery off the bus however I did not take a ground to the battery through the center pin. Will try that.
