The other day I discovered this louver while cleaning the front compartment.

How is this louver controlled? Is there a switch somewhere that opens and closes it?

You can take the valve and relay apart and try to fix it.

They don’t last a real long time because of all the moisture the compressor makes.

Jeff might have some of those at his shop or can tell you what to order and where. On my coach I installed a water separating filter with a auto drain valve on it.

Or you can just use a manual valve.

Keep that compressor tank dry to avoid lots of problems.

Hello Darrell, yes, I remember you and thanks for the reply. I’ll be sure to check that out. It seems, looking at the wiring diagram, the brake relay and engine fan relays could provide a ground feedback to illuminate the retarder tell tel operation light.

Hello Jon, I agree that it would or should be a welded relay and I am pouring through the wiring diagrams now…the relay now in question is what Allison calls K5 in the VIM transmission control box/forward steering box. All of the Prevost installed relays for retarder control, brake control and engine fan control seem to be operating correctly. I plan to dig into it this weekend and I’ll post an update.

Prevost definitely has the best prices. Will they sell you the correct ones? that’s questionable. They are still selling the wrong front air bags to folks w/solid front axles like our bus.

I just now(5/4/20) called Prevost Parts, and they told me the pt# for my bus was # 630125, superseded by # 630258. WRONG! The correct air bag for the front of my bus(unit# S5665) is # 630259. 3+ yrs ago when I was changing all my air bags, thanks to PC and the late great Peter Campbell, they tried to sell me # 630260 for the front.WRONG! I listened to the folks here and got the correct ones.

The online PrevostCar parts catalog – PA1189, p.1066 of 2426, for my bus doesn’t show what they told me on the phone today, 630125 or 630258, or the one that I and others here know to be correct, # 630259.

For everybodies sake here, I hope somebody with a bus like yours that has changed their air bags recently will speak up.
