SOS Lost power to the coach…
Just arrived this evening at Pelican Lake for the weekend to find a powerless coach…
Left here on Feb 21, all good, no issues…
Facts:
– inverters not On – all panels / switches power are off
– reset Main and Aux power switches – no luck
– checked and reset power from pedestal thru power surge unit – all good
– reset transfer switch- both lights on – did not hear inverters start
– reset emergency switches – did not hear inverters start
– reset inverters fuses – no luck
– generator was on auto start if power failure to maintain coach power, but failed I believe due to other issue
Any suggestions? Is hot here, we will sleep on the beach chairs tonight…
Another issue…started the engine… the 2 belts over the compressor are not turning, all others are ok…any connection between the coach power and this? It should not be…
We are here for only couple days, any fixing suggestions are appreciated!

If your house battery’s are dead you will have to get power back in them before your inverters will come back on.

I assume batteries are dead…we had 2 AC on and the fridge…but had the auto Gen ON also, wondering what happen there, plugged on constant 50 amps with Progressive surge on.
I will need to get now the batteries individually charged to minimum to have the inverters on, is it possible the transfer switch went bad?
I did a complete reset on the coach, no luck…There is no power in the coach at all…
Engine runs ok.

Do you have a meter to check your battery Voltages?

If the engine starts the alternator will charge the house to get the inverters going. You should have Xantrex if so go to the remotes and move the cursor to ON (a line under on) they will come back on line.
Need more info to figure whats going on. Do you have the shore power breaker in the basement to let power in?
I just read your post again. What compressor belts are not turning? You sure it’s not your big alternator ?

1st- engine- last night was late, engine belts were loose…the 3 were running but the 2 over the compressor were not…restarted this morning, managed to keep the belts on and ran the engine for one hour or so…
2nd- none of the lights in the rear panel are on nor the Xantrex remotes…so can’t do anything there…the transfer switch in the 2nd bay is on ….
There is no power in the in the coach at all, not even on the dash monitor.

Your going to have to jump the solenoid in the rear engine bay curbside to excite the inverters. The coach batteries got too depleted.
I can walk you thru it or Marathon Tech can.

Check ATS automatic transfer switch pull cover off and with a meter see if shore power is making to coach, Do you have a surge protector? if so check power going through, If batteries are dead your inverters would be dead also

Update…
Thank you all for your suggestions, all good stuff…been busy all day until about 4pm…issue resolved thanks to Bernie that followed up with me and Marathon Service Dept at the Marathon HQ.
Again, Marathon Service Tech proved themselves as the best customer support in the coach conversions.
Electrical Tech Lead Terry took the time to guide me through troubleshooting and fixing the issue with patience and professionalism from start to finish.

Now to the issue at hand…as described in the initial post, I lost power to the coach completely, no inverters, no gen, nothing…
Through Marathon troubleshooting procedure, we were able to “resuscitate” the coach / inverters, get them to start charging the batteries and then root cause the issue…couple of the wires connected to the transfer switch breaker box were damaged / burned out, probably due to aging…replaced the two wires and we were back in business…coach all powered up and getting cooled…
Terry from Marathon Coach was “with me” the entire troubleshooting time making sure is done right the first time…
All forum suggestions were considered and in line with Marathon troubleshooting procedure.
Calling Jeff at Pelican was on my speed dial since 6am today, but wanted to give Marathon a chance…thank you!
