Lots of bands playing Sturgis. Don’t know if that is what you are seeing.

    Bill,

Don’t beat yourself up on this deal. I think it is safe to say almost all of us have scraped and dragged and only after we did the deed we realized all we had to do was raise it up.

I have become so aware of that now that I am not shy about stopping traffic while the bus raises to allow me to go up a driveway or cross some low lying divider.

3greens, no OTR, so do not need to deal with that luckily! Looks like Prevost manual covers it but slightly different tank from what I have read on some searchs. I will try and flush best I can and get as much fresh 50/50 mix in there as I can with time constraints I have right now, will go back and do a more thourough job this fall.

Saw some of the Peak HD at Walmart but it is $6 more than the stuff at my Detroit dealer so will get more PowerCool Monday.

Only concern is actually purging things through the house side/Webasto right now…want to make sure I get it right!

Here is the car Jon is having us turn into his towable old car that is resto-moded for that purpose. My name is Al Morgan and I am with MidSouthern Restoration is Cookeville TN. We restore older vehicles for high end users. If you check out our web site at http://www.midsr.com you will see a large variety of cars that have been completed in our 9 years in buisness. Jon’s car is not much different and when we need help with the “towable” aspect jon will help us deliver what he wants. After meeting Jon in person and figuring out what he wanted ” A new old towable classic” I called FatMan Fabrication for an updated chassis that includes all more modern ammenties. Rack ands pinion steering and disc brakes. The Front suspension is of Mustang II design. The original 50 Ford body will drop right on its new chassis. From there a Tremic 5 speed manual towable transmission was ordered up and Jon wanted a sweet running simple motor. I had an old 302 Ford motor out of a 70 Ford pickup and after running it I decided to core it out for a remanufactured 302 of the same year period. A few new parts were added like the MSD igniton and a new Holley 350 cfm carburetor. Sanderson Headers were added to get the exhaust out. I am not a big fan of CNC’ed parts but I found a company that builds good quality brackets for the Ford motors and they fit. These will hold the A/C pump and powersteering pump.

The Body was in decent shape but had rusted rocker panels. All the old paint was striped to bare metal revealing a other wise nice body. The rockers were replaced and a small amount of body work was completed untill final fit up. Once the new chassis arrives, there will be some fitting issues to deal with. The underside of the Ford will be re-undercoated and the chassis will be painted. The new Tremic and 302 will be installed then the body. Then the car will be painted. Jon will help us with the tow bars and they will be fit for his set up. We are in a holding pattern untill new chassis shows up. Pic’s will follow.

I suspect boaters like Gil and pilots like a lot of us on the forum develop fuel strategies.

I now know enough about my current coach to have established some rules for myself. My safe range is 1000 miles. Yes I can stretch it, but based on my fuel consumption that is my never exceed limit. I used 4 hours from full in the plane and I use 1000 miles in the bus as limits never to be violated.

With that in mind I learn my route, and then with my route established I pull up the Love’s location map and start looking at fuel stops along the route that will fit within my fueling window. I like to go more than 700 miles, but never more than 1000 so I base my planned stop with those ranges in mind and look for the cheapest fuel within that window.

If I know I will have a lot of generator time I adjust to compensate for the fuel that will be used. If I anticipate extensive moutainous driving, I know fuel flow goes up so I will shorten the range I anticipate. The point being spontaineous road trips are nice as long as I am always aware of when I am going to need fuel, and where that fuel will be found.
