While I have not ascended to the ranks of Prevost ownership my coach is of similar physical size so the wisdom I pick up here is valuable to me. Thanks to all!

Thanks for doing all the math, very scientific! Good to know even under the worst of circumstances, it will be safe. As there will always be some ventilation. And as I’m most concerned about when hooked up to shore power, I could just tilt open the hatch door a few inches, which would then vent out the top of the compartment.

I also have a 95/96 Vantare and it is my understanding they did not provide any manuals for the conversion side. The Prevost Manuals helped me a lot in early ownership and still do.

I replaced mine a few years ago with Thomas 405ADC38/12. No problems. Has 100% duty cycle. Reasonable price from Combined Fluid Products. Mike

Joe; wish you luck on elect gremlins! my basic check point is all grounds are suspect. loose or corroded. = give low voltage or intermittent connection.

Thanks for sharing this great tribute video. I have always been much like Rick and always want to learn everything about anything. As I have gotten older I have lost interest in learning about everything and scaled down to learning only what is necessary. Watching the video about Rick has reignited my interest I learning again.

That is good to know about your temps stabilizing. I am always nervous climbing grades with my bus watching the temp go up and up, We have a 7% grade here that climbs from sea level to about 2K feet that pushes my coolant temp just to the point i feel uncomfortable to continue. I am going to tackle the rodding and cleaning myself to save a few bucks. I found a manifold online for 6500, i might order that one and face my other side to clean up.

Mike, after we changed our radiator (it didn’t leak either) we saw a remarkable reduction in temps especially going over mountains. Temps now almost never go to 190 F. We went with a new rad from Prevost and they provided a 10% discount just for asking. Whatever you do, take the time now to replace both thermostats. We also flushed and switched over to new coolant. I was told the manifolds can be welded and resurfaced but others on the forum may know better. We found replacements locally but I’ve seen them on ebay. Please take lots of pics of the turbo RnR for the rest of us! I for one am looking forward to hear how that goes.

Slow way down, shift into 3rd gear and let the engine slow you down. You can push the brakes firmly if the RPM’s start to get too high and then get off the brakes to let them stay cool. Had to do this when W.W. Williams did some engine work and left the Jake disconnected. Didn’t find out until I had to head down the hill into Laughlin, NV and couldn’t get it to slow down on its own.

I was able to reach someone in the “Track Operations” department with a phone number found in the terms and conditions during the camping spot checkout. I purchased a camping spot and they are putting me up in the Driver’s lot instead of the normal camp ground.

I happened to pick up some ball valves before I read the last two posts, so I went ahead and installed those. If they last 5 years without leaking, I’ll be happy. They are stainless, so maybe they will be kind of durable.

I suspect I still have many other leaks, but I am going to tackle this one section at a time, left-rear, right-rear, then front. I don’t have to go anywhere for several weeks, so I am hoping that’s plenty of time to find all of the leaks.

FWIW, I have the electronic leak detector, the Inficon Whisper, but anything it can detect, I can also detect easily with my own ears. I was hoping it would be super useful, but so far not really.
