What If…
Been traveling on the state and county roads in VA and PA with 6-8 degree grades. My engine brake has performed perfectly, but can’t help think what if my engine brake gave out shortly after starting a 6-8% 3 mile winding grade. I always repeat to myself, hit the throttle not the brake for a blow out. Not sure what emergency action should be taken on a steep down grade if I would loose my eng brake.

Slow way down, shift into 3rd gear and let the engine slow you down. You can push the brakes firmly if the RPM’s start to get too high and then get off the brakes to let them stay cool. Had to do this when W.W. Williams did some engine work and left the Jake disconnected. Didn’t find out until I had to head down the hill into Laughlin, NV and couldn’t get it to slow down on its own.
