Aux air compressor replacement
Posted by Archived on September 26, 2022 at 1:06 pmThe original Aux air compressor (Thomas TA- 3101- DC ) isn’t working, it gets current, just won’t start, and flips the breaker. Online they’re listed as back ordered at the places I checked, and cost $1100+. Has anyone rebuilt this compressor or have any suggestion as to a suitable replacement?

depending on the space required and how close to original you are wanting to stay. some people really seem to like the California air compressors

Do you know any specific model numbers people like and are using? There’s a lot of compressors on their site.

I think Les Stallings put one in his coach. Maybe he’ll see your post and mention what he did. Maybe he made a post of the details.

I replaced mine a few years ago with Thomas 405ADC38/12. No problems. Has 100% duty cycle. Reasonable price from Combined Fluid Products. Mike

8 yrs ago I installed a California air tools 1 hp 120v compressor, Model MP100LF (no tank). Works great still. Can be bought with a tank for $50 less.
It can be bought on amazon -
I dont recall what model it was. seems like it was a 1 hp and had a tank. les was one of the people ive seen with them and from my understanding he was very happy with it

Check the capacitor. They are cheap, easy to replace, and may solve your issue. If not, you didn’t spend much.

Don,
We just purchased a 1996 Liberty 40 XL #336. It has a California Air Tools CAT-1P1060S compressor that is not working. The specs on it state 0.6hp vs the 1hp of the MP100LF you installed, is 0.6hp adequate? Did the original compressor have a tank? Would I be better off with the MP100LF? How did you connect the MP100LF? Sorry for all the questions, this is our first Prevost and it is definitely a different animal than the Winnebago Journey we have had for the last few years!
Thank you, Clay
