Today I pulled the Tag wheels off and did maintenance on Meritor ADB1560 disk brakes, pulled pins cleaned and lubed with slick 50 lube with ptef then clay base grease on caliper. tightened pads to rotors greased rear fitting to power shaft, then outer fitting till grease came out popet valve in middle then back off slack adjuster all the way grease comes out valve, once backed off tighten back to rotors then back off 3/4 turn, check free play, it was 1 inch tightened up a little over 1/4 turn then its 3/4 of a inch free play. equals a little less then a half off a turn. Then I decided to service drive axle drum brakes, I tried to turn slack adjusters were pretty gummed up so I removed both slack adjusters cleaned them up so you could see them again, cleaned shaft up put syn grease on shaft and reinstalled them lubbed pins and greased 4 fittings 2 s cam and power shaft and slack adjuster. Tightened to contact shoes to drum then came back 3/4 turn, 1inch free play came up 1/4 turn to should be 0.5 to 0.625 inch free play, then had my wife push pedal at 95 psi in tank and it was about 1.5 inch movement. Called it good. Matt from Meritor was very helpful.

Steer left: 6234 right: 7115 total: 13349
Drive left: 10589 right: 10125 total: 20714
Tag left: 6752 right: 6441 total: 13193
Total. 47256
Jeff’s jacks, already subtracted the weight of the forks. Don’t remember water and fuel, could cause a 3000 lb swing.
Since the tag and steer are very close in static weight, justifying the use of a brake chamber nearly twice the size on the steer vs tag must be dynamic weight transfer under braking.
Most of the difference between Don and I is the tag which makes sense to me as we can see the rear overhang difference on the 40 vs 45 footers.

Bill,
That would be the salesperson at Marathon in Coburg when we made the tour two years ago. Also, I asked when I was there last year if they could weigh our coach–I wanted to get individual wheel weights–and they told me they don’t have scales. I did get individual wheel weight at Jeff’s, which were very close to the CAT scale numbers. Jeff’s scales also showed I am 500 pounds heavier on the driver’s side steer, which makes sense since the generator is on that side.
Tim,
Our actual weight from the CAT scale in January was 50, 720, very close to the 50,935 I read on Jeff’s lifts last November, so you and I are close on total weight. Gross allowable weight on our coach is 52,060, adding total axle weight comes out to 50,960.
Jon,
Like I mentioned, all the Marathon owner’s manual does on tire pressures is to copy the Prevost recommendation at gross weight. They leave it up to the owner to load the coach responsibly.

Thanks Mark, we sent a boatload of pics to James at Extreme, they’ve been doing the estimate. We’re over $90K and haven’t addressed the interior or the electrical. Kirby, safe to assume she’s toast. Estimate has been sent to the insurance company, they’re supposed to respond first of the week.
We’ve done some coach shopping, couple of candidates, one that really fills all the boxes. More to come……

I am like you Jon, I would not consider an modified engine. Good info. Thanks

I was unable to copy and paste a link except to put it in the header (hope it comes through). But it is a link to the allison website under the Allison 4000MH Transmission and it shows a maximum HP of 650 and a maximum torque of 2644, way more than my ISX Cummins that is rated at 650 HP and 1850 Torque….Or, am I missing something?

Yes Tom, I’ll be attending the seminar and I did pay the appropriate amount of dues owed. It was an even $2 grand and Jon assured me he’d be splitting it with you!
My Bus is still at Jeff’s because Jeff wanted to see if Fred would mention my bus having the leans? Just take that $50 bucks off my bill Jeff!
And finely I know that Dick of Waukesha has been pushing that 5th wheel scenario. Dick’s been after my wood ceiling since he saw the pictures.
Knowing that you guys enjoy a good laugh and it will come out eventually the way you guys like to pick on people. Something I’d never consider myself mind you! But I do have three brothers Tom, Dick, yah you got it “Harry”! I see you guys chuckling away.

Hi Lynda, This hurricane is nuts isn’t it? I lived in Tampa for 30 years and my wife is a native and we’ve never seen anything like this! One of our daughters has decided to stay in Tampa, much to our dismay! She unfortunately has the dreaded family “Crazy Person gene!No one has to guess who she inherited that from…

Ron,
I’m away from the coach and it’s literature.
From looking online at Lithium Ion 24v Mastervolt batteries, I think we have 180 amp hours per battery (we have 3). The batteries that I looked up weight 123 lbs. each.
I hope I’m not off base but will be with the coach in a couple of days to investigate further.

Bad Marathon aux tank a common problem. Here’s my post: Rusty Tank
As to the Tecma, there’s already been comments, the foot print seems to be a challenge.
