City vs Country Air horn ?
In working around and cleaning the dash area, it is possible that I hit a switch that changed the air horn to electric.
I cannot find any such switch.
We just replaced the aux air compressor last evening … is it possible that in some way, that cut off the air horn? If so, how did the electric know to come on? ” Hoe do’ it kno ?”
I feel dumb on this but am giving up to you experts…
We are looking in the steering compartment for a clue as well.

I have a similar issue. With the key off, the city horn (electric) blows when I push the switch. With the key on, the air horn blows. I have no switch I can find either, but on my old bus, they were on separate buttons. On this bus, I only have a center horn button. The smart wheel has extra switches that are not utilized, that on some other vehicles operate the electric horn.

Mark3101, when you say ‘push the switch’, are talking the center of the steering wheel?
I will have to check to see if we have anything other than the air horn. I’ll have to push the center of the steering wheel to see what happens with the key off.
We do have a separate ‘handle’ to operate the train horn that I can pull that is located to the right side of the steering wheel at the bottom of the dash.
We don’t have extra switches on the smart wheel. The two on the left operate the computer in the center of the Prevost dash readout. The two on the right operate the radio.

On my Liberty coaches there was a dash mounted rocker switch and one position was for the electric horn and the other position was for air horns. Without looking I think the symbol on it looked like a bugle.

Mark..yes the center button. The extra switches I am referring to are above the retarder and cruise buttons on the wheel in the rubberized part. I don’t have a Volvo so I don’t have the little ones you are talking about. The extra ones are not labeled with anything, but if you push on them, there is a switch in them.

I see now what you are talking about. The spaces above the retarder switch and the above the cruise ‘set’ buttons are blank on our steering wheel.
I’ll push them next time in the coach to see what happens (there are no markings on those buttons).
Jon, we don’t have a rocker switch with a bugle on it.

Omitting the rocker switch to select electric or air horns was likely a cost savings. I think if you check into it you probably have an app for it on your smart phone. Everything else can be controlled by your phone so why not the horn?

My iPad does not have a funtion for that. Maybe it is something Andrew could add….(g). Just kidding of course. Most trucks I have seen with that wheel have the horn function in what is a blank in our coaches.

We apparently found some “lose wires” in the driver’s side electric switch / breaker bay panel …repaired and the air horn works.
Strangely enough, they both blow at the same time.

There has to be a switch somewhere that controls which horn is getting the signal from the horn button. Check that wiring again.

There is no switch on mine and all I get is air horns, nothing from city horn regardless of which button on the wheel pushed, two small buttons or the big center button. I’ve had other coaches that did have a button to select city or air.
