Yup, replaced all of mine with parts from Prevost about 6 years ago. Big quality of life improvement.

I’m guessing you have the six-pack of solenoids in the steer compartment like I do. Looks more complicated than the modern setups, but mine works fine. I’m no air system expert but let me know if I can check anything on my end for you. Liberty made modifications to the suspension, but my bus didn’t come with Liberty manuals.
As for the front ride height, there should be a leveling valve near the center of the bus, right behind the steer compartment. It looks like Liberty basically patched into the existing air lines so the leveling valves can be bypassed using the Level Low controls. In the second photo, the ride height valve is on the right, toward the back of the bus. The solenoid that Liberty installed to bypass that valve is on the left, at the back of the steer compartment. As you can see, someone had cut those wires before I bought the bus, leading to some interesting times as I tried to learn my systems.

Might as well provide some updates. Two of my biggest challenges were:
1. Finding a shower base that was big enough and had a good drain placement. That was a big headache because I really needed a corner drain to make it work with my layout (i.e. not hitting something with the hole in the floor). None of the single threshold bases (alcove) had corner drains, and the neo-angle or round corner showers were bad for my layout. I settled on a two threshold 32″ x 32″ base, and will just have to carefully waterproof one of the curbs.
2. I really wanted a full-size refrigerator and freezer. With the low ceilings on my bus, there was no way to get one on board. I might get a counter-depth sans-door through the bus door, but geometry says a corner would hit the ceiling before I could stand it upright. Same for going though a windshield. The diagonal dimension is just too tall to stand it upright. I ended up buying two of these convertible units from Costco last month. They’re already on board. I was concerned about not being able to find an exact replacement if one fails, so I bought two extras to use as freezers in the garage. So far they seem really nice. I removed the pin that the bus door latch grabs to give me a little more room when moving them on board. I must have reinstalled it well, because now my door closes better!

Richard, I replaced the one in my steer compartment with Part #: 641338 from Prevost a few years ago. It wasn’t a tough job. I have another one for the filter in the engine compartment, but I haven’t gotten around to that yet because it looks a little more complicated. Maybe I’ll take another look at that one since I have some stuff apart back there, making more room to work. I’ll attach the photo from the current Prevost parts catalog.

I’ve used Williams a couple times in PHX when my old bus had shifting issues in the trans.
They know what there doing, I wouldn’t tow it.

Here is one of my “eBay” valves, assembled and disassembled. The 24vdc rating only applies to the coil (the black part). I’ve taken a 24vdc coil from one and put it on the valve of another (that maybe had a 12vdc coil originally) to better match the port configuration and orifice sizes. It’s just a jamb nut on the top that holds them together. The diameter of that center shaft and the hole in the coil are the things I’ve found to vary. Some won’t swap. I don’t know if that is from changes to the line over the years or because they were simply incompatible.
I guess you would also have to consider the label, since it is only on the coil. If you cobble something together you could end up with a label that doesn’t match the orifice sizes on the valve. The valve/coil in the photos is a newer version of the ones that came on my bus, but the mounting holes on the bottom are the same. Remember, I’m just a hack.

I also think you could probably just use a Norgren valve from a later model coach in its place. It might be easier to just fabricate a new mounting bracket than to hunt for the right Skinner valve. Yours is probably plumbed with copper lines like mine, so that adds a bit to the challenge of swapping for a different style.

I buy them on eBay. Remember that you can usually swap the solenoid from one to another, although I have found some that have slightly different diameters that won’t work. Not sure how to tell that up front, so it’s a bit of a gamble.<div>
Good job sorting the issue with the airbag. My thoughts on troubleshooting were along those lines, but I don’t really know enough to give advice working under the bus. Scares me every time I go down there.

Mine are on the ceiling of the steering compartment, directly under the driver seat. Those Skinner valves are a couple of hundred dollars each new, so I buy them on eBay when I can. You can swap the solenoid, but I try to keep the orifice the same.

Can’t do it with a full-height unit in my bus, Bill. It will hit the ceiling no matter how you tip it up from horizontal. I don’t know when the XL went to higher ceilings, but mine are about 75″ at the peak right now without a finished floor or ceiling. These two units together are a little wide, but it’s worth it to me to gain the space.

It’s still open right now. I will probably use spray foam, but am concerned about maybe needing to remove the fiberglass panels that replaced the upper windshields at some point in the future. I figure that would destroy the insulation and make it difficult to replace. I’ll probably cover the area with thin plastic and areas of weak adhesive, and then spray foam the plastic sheet. Hopefully the insulation would stay in place if I later remove one of those panels.

I pivoted to another project about 18 months ago, but am finally done with that. I also just recently sold the boat I had in charter. 2026 has been declared the year of the bus around here. Finally settled on my layout and am working on plumbing now, then electrical. Can’t really call mine a Liberty Coach any more, except for the nice, stainless fresh water and black tanks. I’m changing to an offset center aisle, and am excited to start the build out!

Thanks for adding that feature. Incidentally, if people would add a basic signature, it would really highlight the issue with older replies to posts being attributed to the wrong user. That’s still widespread.
