Bryan,
Threegreens nailed it. It always blows me away to see someone install a 24V bank and then to install so many 12V devices. Lights, water pumps, water circulation pumps, and air compressors are all available in 24V. Although generally more expensive, some of that additional cost would be offset by installing smaller conductor cable given you only need half the amperage.

I had Nick do some work for me a couple years back. He’s a good guy and gave me a fair price.

You get Free PopCorn at the Harvest Moon. Can you beat that?

It would be interesting to know why Prevost prefers slide extension with the coach in the road or driving position.
If I theorize and conclude that is the condition that prevents the coach shell from twisting or racking that would make sense. It seems that way because I was told as part of the cycle of slide movement the tag axle air is exhausted to stress the shell in a specific manner to pervent binding.
But I would be surprised if our coach chassis is twisting or racking such to bind the slide. I have supported the coach on jack stands for years now when I back in the garage primarily because if I decide to get under it and look at something or work on it I can get down in the pit without fear of it dropping. So with it on two stands at the rear and front it is sitting down on all four when I let the air from the suspension. I do that because the tires don’t tend to flat spot on extended stays in the garage.
But if I want to raise the coach with a jack, I can do so at any one corner and the coach will rise an equal amount off the opposite jack stand suggesting to me the chassis is not twisting at all. But it doesn’t matter what I think. I am still operating the slides the way the book says to.

That makes three of us that have the same symptoms and I will bet there are more.
I set up a little load/charge test over the last 4 days to verify my findings and here are the results. The test conditions were to run 2 A/C units (one A/C unit drawing from each inverter). In the AM, shut I off the shore power for 15 minutes with the A/C units running to draw down some power from the battery bank. I then turned the shore power on with both chargers set at 15 AMPS.
Each and every time the chargers came on to bulk charge the battery, I had the symtoms described in my posts. The only variable was that the symptoms flip flopped one inverter to the other one time.
When the batteries got back to float, I repeated the test but with Inverter # 1 set to 1 amp charge and the other set to 15 amps. I repeated this test 4 times with 100% correct results.
At this point in time, I am convinced that the only issue is one charger gets confused when it is fighting a second unit. I suspect it goes into a default mode which is to invert and supply 120 volts from DC, Having one charger shut down ends the conflict and all is well.

I like the Headhunter because the system is simple. The downside is to properly flush you need a large sudden flow of water at a reasonable pressure so to make it work on my anemic 1.4 GPM back up pump I am in the process of installing an accumulator tank directly in line with the inflow water line to the flush valve.
I’m optimistic it will work even if JDUB uses the toilet.

Man that is going to be a tough one without not knowing what options Marathon ordered on the shell in 2003 road air could add 12 grand to the list price

When I am about to retract the awnings, after unlatching, I let the arm follow along the fabric of the awning itself as a way to prevent a possible mishap (ie scratch) on the side of the bus. Practice is of course the way….I actually stopped at an airstream renovater/dealer in Ohio and he showed me a couple tricks. Airstream uses ZipDee and carries parts & service for what it is worth. I bet Jim (Coloradobus) could chime in with 2cents worth.

Truk-did I hear you correctly the 1st time or the 2nd time? Wondering (wandering) minds need to know

I was through Prevost Nashville service center this week and had the coolant discussion with Keith Wilson, Service Coordinator – who spent 20+ years with Detroit as a mechanic working on Series 60 engines and his recommendation was using on recommended Detroit coolant ONLY (no traditional colored fluid) and using either Nacool or Lubercool II additive to the antifreeze. Says it is the absolute secret to keeping these engines running cool for extended periods. Says to usie Power Trac coolant test strips to determine when the coolant needs changing. This is available from Detroit as well….

Great to hear it has gone well at DFW. Do they have a preferred painter or do find your own ?

This Progressive Industries device had some really nice features that are considered to be the best available by a large number of people:

There is a hardwire version and a protable, plug-in version. Check out the specs. It’s really good.

I didn’t say I could determine load from coolant temperature. I said there was sufficient load when the coolant temperatures reaches normal operating temperatures.
Unless the house batteries are drawn down the charge rate should be set to a relatively low charge rate. Yes, it will take longer to charge, but the charger won’t have to work so hard and the batteries prefer a slow rate of charge anyway. I also turn off one charger, not the inverter, just the charger. I only have a single house bank, so nothing is lost with the one charger off. FWIW, I have 2 roof airs on one leg and the other air and charger on the other leg. I also don’t have an outdoor electric grill. So, I’ve never trippeda CG breaker. Of course, I suppose I will now 🙁

I have just over 70 similar light fixtures in my 2006 SOB. They are controled by the mulitplex system. Over half are dimmable, using the PWM (pulse width modulation) technique. If your dimmers are the knob type, I doubt they are PWM.
On eBay is a seller called LEDwholesalers. I contacted them and asked for a quanitiy discount which was quickly given. What I ordered is:
110701197719 G4 Warm White Dimmable surface mount, side pin
LEDs cut power consumption by around 70% and are much, much cooler – not cool to the touch but not blistering hot either.
I could not be happier.

Bryan,
I was shown a coach that had a flat disc with about 17 small LEDs mounted upon it installed in a light fixture as you describe. They looked very good in terms of both the light and the “color”, not having the bluish / white color, but a more natural “warm” color. The owner said not only did they do away with a lot of heat, but the current draw was significantly reduced.
It was a relatively expensive change but the owner felt it was worth the effort and the cost. I would suggest you try out bulbs before ordering enough for the bus. Our coach, if like yours has about 30 or more fixtures. If on-line dealers require 5 as a miniumum I would look for someone that will sell singles and pay the price to evaluate them. I believe Camping World sells a variety of LED “bulbs” so maybe that is a place to get them for tryout.
To post photos go to the icon with the sun and the tree. A box will drop down and click on “upload”. That will produce a drop down box that you can use to access the photos in your computer. Click on the photo you select, then at the bottom of that box click on “open”. The photo will load in the first dropdown box. Click on “OK” and the photo will load in the replay box. BEFORE YOU CLICK ON THE ICON ABOVE (WITH THE SUN AND THE TREE) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CURSOR IN THE REPLY BOX WHERE YOU WANT THE PHOTO TO APPEAR.
