Have you changed the battery in the fob?

The fob works fine once I ‘wake up’ the system.

My main concern is getting it to be awake while I’m on the inside. It will stay awake for a while, it’s during the morning when the buttons haven’t been used for more than 6 hrs., it falls asleep. So, when I hit the unlock switch by the exit door, nothing happens until I turn on the acc. key to ‘energize’ the system.

The first time in Nashville, they couldn’t replicate the problem. They energized the system and it worked and did not fall asleep. It takes an overnight stay for that to happen. So, in their book it was working. I wish I had more time to let it sit.

Nashville reset some of the ‘sensors’ ?? (not the right word)…. that are in the electric bay behind the rear wheels on the passenger side. To reset, you turn the ignition key on, then flip the breakers/senors off and then back on.

The second time I had them look at it in Mira Loma, CA, they hit the button and it worked. I didn’t have time to wait another day for it to go to sleep for them. Isn’t that always the case, always works for the tech!

Mark mine does the same thing when it sits overnight if I push the unlock button on inside of coach it will open it half way but if you push it twice it will open the same on outside not hitting or rubbing or anything , dead bolt, all good inside door , replaced the the door actuater and both relays same thing in the morning, still looking there must be another relay some where , outside key pad all good

Are you guys sure it is a Prevost issue and not related to the conversion. Prevost makes part of the door lock system, but doesn’t Liberty add their feature via the PLCs or the Crestron?

Mr. Fowler, yes, the rose petal dumpster is working fine.

Mr. Jon, Prevost seemed to think it was their issue. The buttons work fine if I turn the ignition key to acc. ‘on’ and back to ‘off’ first thing in the morning, it re-energized the system I guess. The system is fine most all day. It’s usually in the morning when the system needs a nudge.

If I don’t turn the ignition key and push the on and the off buttons a couple of times, it wakes up and comes to life.

(these are the buttons to the right of the exit door on the panel below the passenger navigation screen).

The keyless lock system on this coach is not the same system that is on most everyone elses coach….I am not sure if your coach falls into it however there was a wiring update that was being done….I do not remember the conditions of this so am not sure if this is the same issue…

Mark,

Have someone take a video of your attempts to unlock after the overnight stay. Then show the proof to the Prevost Tech and ask them whats up with this. It may or may not be a Prevost problem. All I can say is technology is great … when it works. When it does not work don’t you just want to throw the key fob into Jeff’s “collection station.” The classic coaches with manual key door locks work everytime, except when the internal door mechanism breaks. Then the problem is ours to fix, after opening the lock by some other means.

I’m not sure if what I’m experiencing with my coach is related, but figured I’d add to this thread to see if I can get some input.

Randomly, I’ll hear a sound that appears to be the deadbolt locking or unlocking and it happens with no rhyme or reason. At first I thought it could be a fob buttons accidently being pressed in my pocket, but I ruled that out as both fobs were sitting on a counter attached to a keychain in the ignition or it happened during the wee hours when sleeping. I’ll add it can happen when the slider mechanism is in the locked or unlocked position. The engine was off each time it happened.

Either there’s a logical explanation or it’s haunted and I have ghosts or gremlins.

Hello Gang,

I can’t locate the thread where I mentioned about my entry door locking system will go to sleep overnight.

I would have to ‘energize’ the system by turning the ignition key to the acc. position.

Finally, it appears that Prevost corrected the issue yesterday while in for service. They have made three attempts but it was difficult for them as the minute the engine is started, the system is energized and no ‘sleeping’.

Prevost found that the multiplex system needed an update. I checked the coach this morning remotely and I could lock and unlock the coach with the first hit of the button on my iphone.

So, it appears that it stays energized now but I will keep an eye on it and will test it while on the road in a couple of weeks.

Now, when I wake up in the morning and want to open the entry door, I can hit the ‘unlock’ button on the key pad next to the door. If I didn’t energize the system, opening the door manually would cause the alarm to sound.

Thanks for the rapid reply Mark!

I’ll be at Prevost next week and I’ll ask about this. Joe at Marathon advised there may be an update for this.

I’m hesitant to keep the ignition key in the on position as I’m still learning the systems and don’t want to deplete the battery without the engine running.

I’ll ask: What’s the coach telling me when this phantom locking is happening?
