Bernie, I shouldn’t say this, especially in print, but your comments are pretty much on target. But if the preponderance of Marathons had OTR I likely would be driving one.

With cold ambient temps and weak chassis batts it may not spin over fast enough to get enough compression/heat to light the fires?”

That’s interesting. I was pretty sure we didn’t have glow plugs and recently confirmed that the engine starts with the cylinders firing based on compression and the fuel being injected at the right instant. I hadn’t thought about cold weather starting.

I have purchased parts from Visone in the past and been satisfied. They may have what you need.

I’m at a loss attempting to know or understand why all of this was not caught in a level 3 service. I understand knowledge of the coach service history would help, but careful attention to things should have revealed everything.

To seize a bearing the hub was run dry or someone who did not follow tightening specs over torqued the hub nuts. If the caliper was seized the brakes and hub bearings could get very hot, with sufficient heat to distort the plastic hub cap, both showing visual damage.

Those two items are serious safety issues, especially because either could have resulted in a fire.

My attitude about doing all my own work is more and more justified by reading the prices companies charge for doing substandard work.

Yes I’ve never done it either, but I know it works, Probably would not hurt it once in a while to exercise it? Is that true a 45 ft won’t clear the ground?

Over the years I’ve used BB on several occasions, without high expectations, I pull out and dry the bus with soft towels before moving on. The best truck wash I’ve been to is on I10 on the west side of Palm Springs, can’t remember the name, but they treated the bus like it was their own and came out after I pulled out and towel dried the whole outfit. Now, hands down the best wash has been at Marathon after service done there. I believe it’s Val that is the gentleman that does the wash service, after seeing the incredible job he did I tried to get him to hop in the bus and clean it every time.(-:
