Just a general comment about criticisms of vendors or suppliers.

We do not want to censor posts. But we also want to be sure if a post has the potential to be damaging that it is both accurate and fair. Fair meaning enough information is provided to enable readers to see there may be two sides to the issue.

As written Georges post is clearly critical but does not present information as to why he is critical of FLC. Since FLC may not be reading our forum or may not choose to respond all I can say is Georges is entitled to his opinion but unless and until supportable facts are presented keep in mind FLC may be a good company but Georges and they may have an honest difference of opinion.

We all probably get a black eye because of me. I am sure some curse all Prevost owners when idiots park in campgrounds where they don’t belong and then line up to see if I can get into or out of my site.

I make use of the four air horns on the roof to get folk’s attention to point out someone needs to move a car or fishing boat that blocks access or exit from my site.

When I do that I tell them my name is Tom.

The products we built did not get ratings for strength, but were rated for electrical capacity or some performance standard. I have no idea who tests and certifies hitches for example, but our electrical products were built and tested to specific standards, either Canadian CSA standards or UL Standards. We made separators also and their performance required them to meet certain separation standards (only so many parts per million of a given material could pass) at certain flow rates. Those were tested and certified to Plumbing and Drainage Institute Standards. In all cases we exceeded the requirements of the standard when the products were tested, but we never rated a product for an amount greater than the standard they were tested to. A 120 amp electric power outlet carried a 120 amp rating, and a separator that was tested to 35 gallons per minute flow rate was sold as a 35 GPM device. We did not dare suggest better performance because tests are conducted under rigidly controlled conditions and we have no way of knowing if a user in a real world application is going to use the product as intended.

If we tested and rated a hitch at 10,000 lbs. I do know there is no way I would say “I know it won’t break unless you exceed 15,000 lbs.” because for sure somebody out there in the market would figure out a way to break it and we didn’t want the liability. When stuff is tested and certified and we meet the standard for certification we have a lot of protection because we met accepted standards.
