Tom, it’s the bus’s fault. If we didn’t have the bus, we wouldn’t need the Dodge or the second computer. But of course, if we didn’t have the bus, we wouldn’t be looking for rally info. See where this is going ?

Where hvac fans are in that compartment there are flex conectors on them to the crossover duct work to curb side..It could be torn or displaced. The pic you show pannel is right behind your daughters bunk(rite) . Also isn’t your cold air return in same space for hvac–make sure the connection did not come off grill for it.(could be back feeding a little into a closed space. Just thoughts without being there.

    Mark,

I don’t really get the worry about a hill and trucks. I’m a retired long haul truck driver and its a pretty simple process. if you can pass the truck in front of you do it or follow along until you can. If you can’t you stay in the rocking chair and forget it. Once your in the passing lane it can be a slow pass and being all worried about someone coming up behind you fast makes no sense. Most of the time its 4 whelers speeding anyway, so let them wait. Like the sign used to say, I may be slow, but I’m ahead of you.

I dont think you would be happy with 800 hp. Besides your not being paid by the mile or load, so whats the big deal about being to the top of the hill first. I used to do your annual mileage in 3 weeks. your going to spend 2 million dollars to race up a hill a few time s a year. Can you adopt me.

Gil, thanks for the post. Sorry my frustration about poor Prevost service and my own personal issues set things on the wrong course. I love my ride (my home, my only possessions) and I just keep grapping at straws in hopes I will find that one person with the magic to restore my home to its original glory.

    Bill,

You are getting good advice. AAP is the go to place for advice and information. Your cruiseairs are designed to be serviceable and with two refrigeration lines and an electric connection broken your units can be easily removed and bench serviced.

They aren’t magic. Gil is correct in that the Marine industry uses a lot of them and might be a good source for service. Once the condensing unit has been repaired or rebuilt the only thing required is for the tech to apply the proper charge to the system, which on a Cruise air is critical.

I may be reading your posts wrong, but it seems you have had bad luck with service. There are a lot of good people who support our coaches and if i was in your position I would seek advice from people in your geographic area about their experiences with service providers before I turned my coach over to whoever promises to fix it. Not everyone has the expertise and understanding required to maintain our coaches. Then I would stay with my coach and make sure they will do what they say for the price they quote. It is too easy to end up paying folks for on the job training or not getting the results you seek.

I took the arms off my Braun that wasn’t reliable. I then installed the very antenna Tom pictured. I mounted it directly to the remaining Braun mount. Being able to mount this antenns without adding any new roof penetrations is why I selected this antenna.

I have not noticed any reception problems. The batwing antenna will pick up low VHF channels better than these circular omni directional antennas. The good news is few are broadcasting on the low VHF band and all should vacate this band over time. Digital TV channels are primarily in the UHF in which these antennas work fine.

I have tried to keep ahead of rust on the belly of my buses. The first one ran through the roads of the rust belt during the winter and I couldn’t keep up. It was so bad I had to even replace fittings and fasteners because of rust. The rust would come off the differential in chunks.

But the last two coaches have been a different story. They are far from rust free, but their overall condition is considerably better than the first. I use a rust converter on any surface rust such as suspension parts or differential. Then I spray with a good quality black paint. I do the same with brake parts, and anything else in the engine area.

It’s hard to see, but differential has been wire brushed and will get the conversion coat followed by a heavy black paint. The caliper got painted using the same paint as the engine because I have a gallon of it. But the process is never ending. Every time I am under the coach if I see something in need of paint, I try to touch it up. I am not worried about appearance because one trip through rain pretty much makes everything ugly, as can be seen by the accumulated dirt and crud on some of the frame members.

I have a sandblaster but I use it sparingly because driving that grit into places that can be damaged by it is not worth the risk If I get a rusty part disassembled and I can clean the grit from the parts then I will use it.

If Kevin is reading this he is the standard by which every coach underside needs to be measured. I suspect nobody, including Prevost can make a coach look as good as he has made his. Maybe he can post a photo.

    Bill,

Carole and I spent a couple weeks at the RV park in Chula Vista. Its about 25 minutes south of San Diego which also means about 5 miles north of the border. This was back in 2008 in June so this is not a current recommendation. The park is OK and is part of a “brownfield” development. It was just getting under way in 2008. Check out Google Earth for an aerial view that would be more current.
