  • Greetings, Introduction, Questions from 1st timer

Hello everyone! My name is Scott and I am an addict, JK. I found
myself absolutely intrigued by Prevost conversions starting at a very, very
young age. I am now 30 and my wife and I are trying our best to work hard so
that we can enjoy the finer things in life. We both have extraordinarily high
standards and expectations when it comes to a purchase like this. We are
currently looking at a 2000 Prevost XL that was converted by a company called
Vision Coach Corporation. The conversion seems to be very nice but for my
personal satisfaction I wanted to find more out about the company. I cannot
find anything related to Vision Coach Corporation anywhere. If anyone has any
    input please let me know.

We plan to purchase this Prevost and road trip from Minnesota to New Mexico where we will reside for at least the next two
    years.

We have found this web community very helpful in answering just
about all of our questions. My wife and I look forward to meeting some of the members and participating
    in the “Prevost Lifestyle”.

I don’t believe Vision remains in business. To be completely blunt the market place is cruel to coaches whose converters are no longer in business. It places a low value on them compared to conversions whose converters are still in business and supporting the coach.

As an “orphan” it is sometimes difficult for an owner to access information or documentation relating to the coach, but generally speaking any coach can be repaired or serviced. Most conversions used parts or systems used by other conversions so support is likely from the manufacturer of those items. The Prevost chassis is well supported. The usual questions revolve around the electrical systems, especially if the conversion had a proprietary control system.

Only you as a buyer can determine your willingness to trade what is usually a lower than market price for a coach lacking some type of formal support. There are a small number of Vision owners, but I don’t know if they have gathered documentation they are willing to share or if they have a way an owner can make a call to get help.

There are allot of us homebuilders out here.. We support our home built systems which are mostly shared or the same as the factory systems. If you look who built any component it wasn’t custom built bt Vision-Liberty-Marathon or brand X but Bose or some electronic or custom hydraulic manafacturer.. So as a do it your self builder we look at who built that component and go there for answers… Also Prevost has a web site that is going to cover everything that was the basic shell provided to the converter by unit number.. So your just dealing with their mods.. Most of the electronic stuff is going to be hard to get (converter used) in some cases after all of the business failures in the recession and technology changes… That age coach is my preferance because of pre egr engine… Lots of pluses if price is rite!!! Tires is big expense.. wouldn’t buy (without big alllowance) if they were over 5 yrs old—date code on side. My more than 2 cents…Don’t be fooled by mileage–low mileage don’t mean it has been taken care of.. Shinny don’t mean anything on back of a wrecker… Bob

Scott, Pete&EJ Petree have a Vision. I don’t know if they are PC members, but they are POG members. There are other Poggers out there with Visions and Pete most likely knows them.

I have shared this in past. Been awhile… I bought a salvage shell.. 45XLE was converted by a major converted to entertainment industry. Name with held! When I was tearing out inside the elct was so bad.. lets just say it all came out… cheap cheap cheap material and workmanship…same with cabinet work… Lamp cord used for circuits—really???? Enough…off my box now. I would be very critical when lookig at any factory built units. On BCM there was mention of the final conviction–SAM WALKER on fraud charges of such a person.. Guys with the BIG Names feel good .

If it looks good and feels rite. check the basic things out and realize you have Prevost support for the bus part and it is pre egr(a plus in my books) Go for it !! The house systems are basic to all coaches. the electronics mostly sharred or available somewhere in crossover industry.. More likely with a smaller converter than the big ones who seem to make it where you need to go back to them for builder specfic items.. I would go for it —if it fits your needs..Bob

We bought our first Prevost/Vision a year ago from a private party at Indo, CA. The bus had 48K (low mileage) for a 2002. The original owner had all of the service records on the bus. We have had a few items that need to be repaired but in the year and 18K later, I would not have a problem with another Vision. All of the interior craftsmanship is comparable to any other conversions, yes Vision is out of business, but all of the components are standard.

Please contact me if you have any questions, I would be glad to help.

Scott, there is your first example of how to create a support network. Any “orphan” has one, and although the market seems to value them less, the probability is you can get more bus for the money.
