Yep Tom, $10K drop in replacement. I self rationalized the cost just like tires and batteries. Let’s see, 15 years of service with the original glass dash. So, that’s about $650 years. I know it’s a lot, but it does alot. BTW, it’s easy to read in any lighting and you get to pick the gauges and stlye you want.
FWIW, my old PC based glass dash worked as did the PC that controlled it. I did lose the analog to digital converter to present those items on the glass dash not available on the Allison or Detroit data bus. It could have been repaired for far less. I just desided to make the upgrade; one that is far more feature rich than the last and it has a purpose built processor. No more waiting for Windows. It also saved my butt trying to troubleshoot an intermittent problem that the Detroit shop couldn’t figure out. The trouble didn’t raise a check engine light as it was too short, but it was saved in the alarm queue in the SilverLeaf…way cool.
Like many things in our coaches, they fail. The important thing is to have a suitable replacement. Not all systems can easily be replaced. As an example, I’ve seen some of the custom controllers that have been made by little companies now out of business to make a Crestron do everything it does in these coaches. Many of these simply don’t exist and there’s no replacement device. Not good.
BTW, anyone can get a SilverLeaf system, Click Here. If you have a new coach, you already have Prevost’s equivalent, so need for new coach owners to migrate

I wish I could do that. Drive only when it is sunny and the roads are dry.
Then I would hire a maid to go down in the pit once a week and dust the belly of the coach. Maybe add a little polish to the slack adjusters, and possibly shine my copper plumbing.

We have far more visitors who read the forum but who do not ask questions so no matter the question or who asks it, everyone gains value. Your questions are the type that make people think, some before they answer, and some to understand how coaches can be so different yet still appeal to a broad spectrum of owners.
Every owner and potential owner has some hot button items. Everyone knows mine are OTR and a private toilet room. I have a lot of other things important to my wife and I but they are not deal breakers. So when you ask questions you are making folks think about their preferences, and when you get answers you are seeing the various perspectives folks have on the same feature.
I do know one thing for sure about your new coach……it will be well done and well conceived because those building conversions today are all highly experienced and have learned the quality required as well as the features buyers demand.

The heart of a AH is a Webasto. Then AH builds their unit with pumps and controls around the Webasto and creates their own heat exchange system within the unit to circulate their fluid. I think as a self contained unit it is easier for converters. I have never heard a reasonable explaination as to why either one is better than the other.
But I have heard a whole lot of problems and unit replacements being discussed on this site and others regarding the AH.
