With our upcoming seminar we are now laying the groundwork for a series of U Tube videos. We have had it suggested that we use professionals or at least apprentices so I am sure Tom and I will be discussing this in great detail in the next couple of months.

    Diane,

Let me know when you are going to hike up the ladder to dry that H3. I want to watch. When you are done I will provide the Advil or booze, your choice.

For potential buyers we who do own coaches should try to explain some of the terminology we tend to use to help avoid confusion.

OTR is used to mean “over the road air” and it is meant to be the Prevost installed whole coach air conditioning and heating system used when driving. As an acronym it has been abused because some owners whose coaches do not have OTR as manufactured by Prevost will claim their coach has OTR when in fact it is a much smaller system installed by the converter. If a coach does not have Prevost installed OTR, at the very least it will have “driver’s air” which will provide AC at the dash vents.

Cruise Airs are air conditioning (and sometimes heat pumps) that are split units with the condensing units located in a bay, center section or behind the front bumper. The evaporator units are then located in various places through the coach. Their AC output is typically 13,000 BTU so a 40 foot coach probably has 3 units, and a 45 foot coach, especially one with slides will have 4 units.

Roof air unitsd are as the name suggests and they are combined condenser and evaporator units located on the roof of a coach. Their output is similar to that of Cruise Airs in the 13,000 to 15,000 range. They may have heat strips or may function as heat pumps. Typically there are 3 on a 40 foot coach and 4 on a 45 foot coach. Entertainer coaches are likely to have at least five units.

Basement units are “packaged” systems and are twice the output of a roof or Cruise Air AC unit. As the name suggests they are located in the bays and a coach may have one unit combined with two roof airs or it may have two units and no other AC unit. I believe a typical basement unit has a 26,000 BTU output.

Prevost Houston put a set on mine a couple years ago. Said they were leaking on a level 3 service. . Couldn’t tell a difference on my old coach.

Thanks as usual for the prompt and useful feedback. I have an appointment with Jeff for a March 20 drop off. I wasn’t sure if I could drive it to Jeff’s knowing the differential holds 7 or 8 quarts of fluid. But it sounds like the 325 mile run via the flat land route Augusta, Atlanta, and Jeff’s via US411 should be no problem.

I will fill the differential before I leave. And shoot the hub temperature (w/o the hub cap) every 30 minutes. Should I overfill the differential by a quart? Any downsides to doing so?

Thanks for the tool loan offer Jon but I’m headed to Jeff’s for shocks and air bags in part because still being a working man I’m out of time to get those things done. I’m slowly building my inventory of tools and doing more and more of my own work but as a multi year plan. I can handle the routine stuff and being able to inspect the underside has been invaluable as this has shown. This job is still above my pay grade.

I parked the coach after Thanksgiving weekend in the barn and about 3 weeks ago made a 20 mile warm-up run and put it up on the ramps. There was no fluid on the floor when I set the ramps into place. So it has been leaking a limited time. Even when I changed the oil and tranny fluid I’m certain there was no fluid on the floor.

It is the driver’s side. The $64,000 question is as always should I have Jeff change both sides?

Jeff, if you are monitoring this thread, add it to the list, I’m coming.

We actually did get a 2001 Featherlite All Aluminum stacker. It was used very little but the tires were weather checked so they put new Michellins on it, checked our hitch and deemed it capable, wired up the trailer to the coach and installed a brake controller. The trailer is only a few inches taller than our coach. We had to do a lot of measuring to be sure it is tall enough to haul what we want (classic cars). The right rear access door on the coach has the big vents, so that should help with heat in the engine compartment. Fingers crossed – we will be heading north shortly!!

Hmm, my summers in Georgia are a little like that. With the exception I was going through a two shirts a day. That’s on a good day. The two days a week I get to enjoy yard work, called for the three shirts and then a couple pair of pants, underwear and socks.

Last summer up in eastern Washigton was a nice break from the wet heat we get to enjoy down here in the south 🙂

Agree with Jon & Tom on the inclusive thing. I think perhaps a way to make it work, is to present it as not being driven by any one group, ie not PC or POG or anyone else. Take ego’s and personalities out of it. Make it a Prevost-first rally. Can anyone organise a conference call with the events officers of the Prouds, POG etc? Before that though, perhaps a suitable pitch needs putting together first.

Another thought I had is to start a ‘Prevost Rally brainstorming thread’. Somewhere to brain dump suggestions or volunteer to take part somehow.

Let’s show the politicians how to do it! I’m sure there are enough clever and selfless people here and in other Prevost groups to make it happen.

February 19, 2015 at 2:30 pm in reply to: Las Vegas Motorhome Resort Rates

    Jon or Tom;

Well, I am still here at the Las Vegas Motorcoach Resort and what a nice place to stay this is. However, I have a question concerning our 20% discount.

Due to some unforseen circumstances, I have been extending my stay one or two days at a time and until today, LVM has given me the 20% discount. This morning when I extended my stay again for two more days, which brings me to 14 days, I was told they could only offer a 10% discount, as the 20% was only intended for stays of 10 days or less.

When I looked up their ad on our PC website, I see no mention of a 10 day limit. I was just wondering, if indeed, the 10 day limit on our 20% discount is what was agreed to between the PC and the LVM Resort as a participant in our RV Discount Program.

    Thanks – Michael

So Tom no longer has a Marathon?

The guy that took a cheap shot at Liberty owners was a Vantare owner, going on in years I might add, and obviously looking for trouble.

I could only assume Prevost’s “Gold Service” would apply here and a customer shows up with a brand new coach, I am surprised they would not go out of their way to help and assist in supporting even converter issues, questions or tech support. I could only hope this is an isolated incident….and as suggested, work with tech advisor closely and not the tech…

I would bet Nashville or Jacksonville would have handled this different.

i will do my best to avoid this service facility when service needs occur given not very far for me…. as based on my experience, this is not the norm and they have been more than helpful…

    Mark,

I understand exactly what you are saying. I know 99% of what is converter related and what belongs to Prevost. A simple explaination from Prevost would have been nice.

Sometimes companies get so big they lose the customer.

You can only make a first impression once.
