Induction start up loads are the “breaker killer” when you are already drawing significant amps through either leg. Induction loads are from starting up devices which have a high magnetic field required to get them to begin doing work for you (think electric motors, some induction cooktops and some microwave ovens). The startup amperage can be several times the running amperage if only for a short time. Air conditioners are the most common but not the only induction loads we need to be concerned about, especially when on less than 100 nominal amp power plugs. Soft start devices that wire into the A/Cs themselves will help dampen the startup amp load on that one device (usually by 50% to 80%) by ramping up the draw rather than having it come on all at once.
Newer devices are coming to market that may be able to provide soft start capability for all the induction loads instead of just the ones with a soft start device installed internally. These plug in between the power pole and the coach. They won’t alter the running amp draw, only the starting amp draw, but may help you manage situations where the breaker is old/weak or where you are forced to plug in to less than 100 amp outlets.
I have another article coming out in Bus Conversion Magazine about these devices in upcoming issues.

I had them in my 2022 Renegade Ikon with Victron inverters and Victron solar equipment. I only had that coach for 4 1/2 months, but it was flawless. Lots of capacity and the Victron stuff is very easy to use and the remote app was very good too.

I dont know why anyone would buy/tow a jeep with all the tap dancing that needs to occur
Years ago, 2002 to be precise , we towed a 1999 Range Ravoer P-38 when they were towable (1998-2002) by adding a fuse to ket it do its autonomous machination into ” tranfer neutral”. After tires and a transmisdion and a main body control unit computer running amuck, we had enough.
We now tow a 2011 GMC K 2500 or 2004 LR Discovery II, ir 2003 Mercedes C240 wagon manual 6 speed without a single issueswe say “no” to the newest Jeeps

Put a stabilizer shock on it, that’ll take care of it

I have not done business with Austin, but I have had dinner with Austin and his family. He is a man of good character and is honest. I would not hesitate doing business with him.

Marshall, I was looking doing the same. I’ve had two batteries go bad on the remotes, and Chris Lewis at Marathon Grand Prairie said the company that made them ceased production. He has several rebuilt batteries but it’s only a matter of time before those are no longer available. Chris provided the following dialog as the the upgrade…
“To replace your current touch panel controllers to iPads will include the following: 2 iPads, 1 magnetic wall mount charger, 1 desk mount magnetic charger, 2 protective charging sleeves, 1 wireless access point, 1 ethernet module for Crestron processor and new program and graphics written for iPads. Will cost approximately $8500. It will take close to 7 working days because of the programming time.”

In anticipation of the abuse I expected when I posted that the TDS fuel program prices were only going to be available on a smart phone APP, and not on my flip phone, I decided I was going to forget worrying about fuel prices and just buy as needed at whatever TA or Petro was in a good spot on our trips.
So when returning from Oysterfest I refueled in Gadsden, AL because it was well within my desired fueling window. I had no clue if I was about to lose money because there was a better choice.
Today the summary sheet was in my email. I bought 145.17 gallons from a pump that said $3.359 per gallon. The total shown was $487.64. Today I know what I really paid. I paid $377.63. saving $1101 or about $.76 per gallon discount making it about $2.60 per gallon
I don’t need no stinking smart phone if I can get discounts like that without trying to find the cheapest rate along my route.
The only thing better is I am now getting about 16 MPG for my coach,

Sorry, just saw this.
I had the same issue a few years ago – and it only cost me a couple thousand to fix. Local Mennonite shop in Lancaster who ONLY do DD (old school shop) was able to pull heads in-place, remove oil pan, pressurize the coolant system, and look from underneath. My kits were fine, and the issue was O-rings that were easily changed. (shrunk with age)
I was a little worried that the coolant in the oil affected the bearings (my oil tests were coming back with copper) so while the pan was off, I had them change the crank bearings – also pretty cheap.
Feel free to PM me.
P.S., my coach is maintained by Elite (a small bus company with tons of 8V92 experience) and they pull a bunch of engines every winter to repair frame rust so practice is key to labor hours. They would have pulled my engine and given me a warranty – but recommended the small shop (no warranty) because of their skill at frame-on work and much lower labor rate. Risk/reward worth it. IMHO it makes a HUGE difference you find someone who smiles nostalgically when they see the 8V92 and is excited to do the work.
