  • Low voltage to throttle sensor

Posted by Steven on April 24, 2021 at 3:49 pm

    Hi,

We are having issues with our 1991 Prevost Country Coach throttle control. DDEC 2 code reads throttle positioning sensor low voltage. I have a new sensor on order and started disconnecting the old one checking the connections. Re-connected the old throttle sensor and now the coach will not turn over.

I thought I had read some time ago that if this is disconnected that the DDEC 2 would have to be “re-programmed”. Is that true? If so how is the re-programming done? Thanks in advance. Steve

Steve, I had an issue with the TPS on my 87 DDEC I coach. It turned out to be a bent connector pin that wasn’t making contact. My point is I disconnected it straightened the pin and problem solved. No programming was required but maybe DDEC II is different but I doubt it.

Your issue if you feel it is the TPS can be addressed by any Detroit dealer. Or Prevost. Or a quality diesel shop with the software to read DDEC.

what jon said ! keep us posted so we can go further. Check your fuse/fuse holder on ddec2 it has seperate power supply and it’s own ground. requires 11.6 volts to run.

Thanks Jon! The coach started fine until I disconnected the TPS cable fitting behind the bumper, cleaned and re-connected. I then tried to start it and it won’t even turn over. Not sure if the two things are associated though.

the supply to ddec is off one battery. ck and see if you have 1 batt below 12.5 resting. also like Jon said make sure when you reconnected you didn’t push a pin into connection or bend
