Go to the Prevost Car web site and in the maintenance section pull up the service manual for your coach. Proper jacking and chassis support points for your coach are shown.

    Hello all,

Just chiming in. I’ve been on the hunt for a coach since last fall. We haven’t pulled the trigger, not so much based prices, but on just not finding a coach that we feel is a better fit for us than the XL that we already have. That being said, we had put in a few offers on coaches that were originally declined. All three of those sellers have reached out to us of late to see if we would still be interested. I see a lot of coaches that have been sitting on the sales block for awhile. I’ve also seen a couple coaches fall out of contract since the sheltering started. Actually, I have a twin-diesel Bertram sport fishing boat for sale that has also fallen out of contract since this all began… and I’d probably take quite a bit less for it now than I would have a few months back.

Obviously it’s a tough time on many levels and the notion of having to sell assets at a loss is daunting and unfortunate for those that are compelled to do so.

I’m still on the hunt for a nice rivet coach and chances are I’ll get a better price on one as we move through this mess. But, that also means I’ll be getting less for mine when I go to sell…same goes for the Bertram for that matter. It’s all relative I suppose.

    Good luck

First make sure the pump will turn or is it locked up. If it’s locked up – then the auto resetting fuse will have switched off and you have to cut power to it to reset itself. But if the pump is locked up – then you have to fix that first (as in has it worked recently or been sitting a long while). So check the shaft first.
If that’s not the case – do you hear the solenoid switch on/off when you turn the water pump on. The solenoid has to click on/off if power is going to the pump. You should check with a volt meter if the power is going to the solenoid (the two small leads should read 13 or 26 depending on your voltage).
if voltage is present there, then check it the solenoid is switching power to the pump unit. Take a reading on the pump side of the solenoid and ground and see if you get voltage. Then we can go from there.

Coaches simply are not selling. Assuming you can wait this out they should start selling again by the end of the year unless the Covid-19 does strike hard again this Fall.

We are still looking to buy but those on the market are still way over-priced.

There are so many factors that influence sellers and prices that eventually will produce changes.

We all have to recognize sellers want to get as much money as possible. It is a hard pill to swallow when dealing with depreciation. We all expect our coach will retain its value longer than the next guy’s coach. Depending on coach condition, records, colors, etc. that could even be true in some cases.

But we have a new situation, similar to the economic downturn in 2007/2008. First, a lot of coaches have to be parked because of travel restrictions, so few buyers want to acquire one until they can use one. Conversely sellers are watching value drop because of depreciation while they are watching the aging of tires, air bags, batteries, etc., paying insurance premiums and maybe storage costs. Eventually those factors are going to motivate sellers to get realistic about prices.

The real influence on price adjustments is going to come from the economy. When owners are upside down and realize their coach value is less than their amount owed, and when the income those owners had stops or is diminished then the financial institutions become bus owners. That is what happened in 2007/2008 and banks will dump those repossessions in the market at cheap prices which will drag the entire market down.

Sellers can only hope that does not happen, but if it does then the prices on coaches that have been in the market a long time are going to get low prices if the owners really do want to sell.

Apart from the virus influenced economy however is a real long term threat that is going to chill the entire market. Insurance costs have gone through the roof, and in some cases insurance is not available. Pay attention to that threat because my guess is if we get through the virus influenced market prices I suspect insurance is going to damage the entire market, and maybe even the sale of new coaches.

I have had all sorts of class A my last one before my my H was an American eagle 42r quad slide, nice coach but that’s all they are is nice coach’s. That’s like saying a bmw or a Mercedes is a nice car. Once I became a prevost owner I understood why the price difference and I understood the difference between a nice coach and an all around excellent coach and luxurious coach. Prevost is second to non on all aspects. And im not saying this just because I own one I’m saying it because I have had many high end class A coach’s. For example on my bus I can open my slides no matter the angle of the buss on my American they would get stuck if not perfectly leveled because of the flex on the body. Imagine god forbid if involved in a accident in one of those buses compared to a prevost.

Since I am not aware of most posting being public health officials or policy makers I would urge strongly we avoid debating this topic.

Everything we can possibly need to know right now is to observe the simple rules Co bus posted. Wash your hands, wear a mask, stay 6 feet away, remain isolated to the extent possible. Before, during or after those seem to be the points most agree on. Lets not start in with opinions again.

Dabank………I will yield to Tom, Al and other Marathon owners to open a discussion about the how and why your system was designed the way it was and how you need to understand and maintain it.

I admit to being concerned about your efforts to replace fittings and parts without at least knowing the basics about how and why your Marathon system works.

Tom: Painfully aware of that. By the time I was aware of the limitations of the WatchDog and the abuse that is done by drawing down the Lifeline AGM batteries to zero (at least twice, maybe three times no less!) damage had been done. That’s probably why I was barely able to squeak five years out of them.

This set is being managed much differently right from the get go. I’ve educated my wife on the limitations of the WatchDog and have posted 24.4 volts on the inverter control panels as the manual generator start point. Not only trained, she’s been tested and passed the test. I’m using the WatchDog as a fail safe in case both of us stumble and allow the batteries to get low with a manual start.

Since Jeff installed the new Lifelines in late December they have never been at 24.4 volts or below. We’ve learned that after driving all day the 50DN alternator on the Detroit Diesel doesn’t have the house batteries at full charge (how many of you boys and girl knew that?) so if we drive until 7/7:30pm and park for the night in the rest area, we’ll fire up the Wisconsin made Kohler after a few minutes, run that until bedtime (between 10pm and midnight), and the house batteries should be fully charged for the night. Then when we get up in the morning the first time we do is start the generator to shower, make breakfast, etc. before we disembark on the next leg.

With your new Lifelines I’ve found that they very, very easily last the entire night before getting down to where I should be concerned.

At the race track and when dry camping more than overnight elsewhere, I’ll probably be more inclined to run the generator more often and longer.

Having never owned any kind of RV before this one and not giving Jeff much time to indoctrinate us when we picked it up from him and blasted off for the Indy 500 we (I especially went through a steep and seemingly endless learning curve. Now my mission in life is to share my hard earned knowledge with all the wide-eyed neophytes and plebes who are entering Prevost ownership.

So Les………………what are your concerns based on your suggestion because I do not use or manage my coach like you do yours that makes Li questionable for you?

I also vent my generator outside, but do not want it to kick on due to a power outage automatically although I have provision for that.
