So we finshed the watchdog/autostart test and that kicked on at the same level as the inverters shut down (just generator kicked on before the inverters shut down, so they keep going). So nothing there, except for it was about the same time I have been seeing (3.5ish hours).

Tom has been helping me out and talking with Jeff. As for the “phantom” loads, sure they are there, but we haven’t had any changes to the systems. Of course we all know that doesn’t mean anyting with these things.

    Next couple options.

    1. Put a tester on the inverter and see what the load/draw is compared to what the panel shows. This would of course be the “phantom” load. It would have to be a rather large pull to make this kind of difference. And I would think we would have something else going on with that much of a draw.
    2. Pull batteries and do a full test on them. Allow them to settle after full charge and then see if the are draining on their own.
    3. Buy a new set of batteries and see how they perform.

So we have options, just need to determine how to go from here. At this point it’s not getting any worse from earlier this summer when it all started. So not sure it’s a 911. We dont have any dry camping needs coming up any time soon, but if we do, we know we have the generator and the batteries will get us 3.5-4 hours or use. That and I know understand the system even more then I did yesterday, so all in all it was a good day 🙂

    Brett…

I know nothing about the coach or dealer, but may be one worth more investigation, FWIW…

thanks. My condolences to the families of the 4 persons.

Ever since i first saw the Benny Parsons video (right here on this site) I have made a note in my bus checklist to watch it every time we move. It is a life saver and if I ever encounter a steer blowout, I hope the repetition of watching what to do kicks in.

If I had to guess I would say you have an air operated engine stop mechanism. I don’t know i the two issues are related.

    This is just a guess.

Bryan, my 94 with probably one of the first 60 series put in a Prevost, is rated at 450@2100 rpm. As an aside, one of the semi’s I have on the farm is a 94 T600 Kenworth that also has a 12.7. It’s rated at 360/400@1850, the split rating is with the cruise on the computer selects the higher hp.

Thanks for the compliments Dick. If you saw the coach after the Lapse in Lambeaux you may not say that. After the Badgers took care of their business and the Tigers didn’t the teardrops may have scared the coach for life. My crying towel has been useless. Seriously we enjoyed the time you and Cathie spent with us before the game. Compliments to all the Wisconsinites for the hospitality they afforded the Tiger faithful. It could only have been better had they all come by to wipe away the tears on our coach before they began to spot.

    John,

You can do a lot of the inspection yourself, especially on the house items. Jon authored a very detailed Pre-Purchase Inspection List that is easily followed. You can find it by clicking on the “Articles” link above and page down to “Prevost Pre-Purchase Inspection List.

Just remember documentation of past service work is everything….Without that you must assume things have not been done…..

When it first happened I went in through the panel at the top of the stairwell. Two fans but are for heat – pass side. The drivers air blower is located somewhere behind the dash or below the floor. I will take the dash apart before I try to access below the floor (and maybe below the slide!). I think Joe Camper had experience with this. 1999 prevost chassis w/ OTR.

    Thanks anyone with suggestions.

My 2006 XLII had the single pin slideouts. The slide out electronics were multiplexed, but the rest of the chassis was not. I will defer to Jon or Tom, but 2007 rings a bell as to the chassis going to multiplex wiring.

So my drivers a/c fan (OTR) started making a clackety sound like the squirrel cage was coming apart. Previously I had read that R&R on this fan was a real b****. I just read this post and have renewed hope! Can you actually get to something that has fallen through the defrost vents to remove it by going in through the dash?

Some pictures of my roof job at Xtreme Paint and Graphics. James (owner) needs pics of your roof existing condition to quote the job.

In my case patches of old clear quote was the only protection. Inside bus is quieter and cooler now.

I had additional paint repair done on bus header… silver paint in front of pic refinished. Also, paint chipping around black salon windows on passenger side was repaired and repainted.

Sanding and prep for roof coat was appox 1 1/2 days

I then moved into Extreme apartment that is on their property leaving bus in booth until finished.
