Stay in Williams, AZ at the Grand Canyon Railway RV park and take the train up. Super nice park and the train is fun. You can also drive up to the canyon in the toad if you want. We have also stayed there several times while just passing through and the RV park is easy to get to and well designed.

If I were to guess I would say the problem is air is not getting past the protection valve. On your rear bulkhead in the steer compartment is a valve that will not allow air to pass until the pressure on the inlet side is about 75 PSI.
If that valve starts sticking, usually due to corrosion from moisture in the system and it does not open then the aux air system will not pressurize or if it does it will pressurize exceedingly slow. Try tapping on it with a small hammer.

I don’t think spaces have been assigned. If you arrive together I would guess you could ask for side by side sites.
That is up to LD, just like the site assingments in Branson were controlled by the KOA.
