Sitting on a ton of cash is kind of silly, so while we have cash on hand to go a little crazy at times, the purchase of a bus is just a decision on what investments I want to liquidate so I don’t have to beg anyone for a loan.
I have no clue what interest rates on loans are, but I don’t think I have ever seen a period when the average earnings on investments was greater than the cost of borrowed money. I don’t care what my credit rating looks like.
I remember the good old days when the banker knew you were an honest hard working person that paid off debts, and the loan process was walking in the bank, saying you needed to borrow some money for whatever, and in less than 10 seconds he made the decision to offer you the loan. Today you have to make the nerd in the back room convinced the loan is a good deal for the bank, and you never get to meet the nerd.

No I do not have slides. The bottom half of the stateroom glass has a 2 piece slider w/screen. The fixed half on both side side is what is foggy. Also one of my main solid glass on the drivers side.

I agree with Bill, the need to buy a water sanitizing system is not usually needed. Most of us acquire our water from properly treated water utility companies at the places we visit.
But, I believe you need to…..
Sanitize Your Freshwater Tank at least once a year!
If your freshwater tank is older, or if it’s been sitting in your stored RV for a while, it may begin to harbor bacteria. As a result, the tank can develop an unpleasant smell ,make your drinking water taste bad, and make you sick. You can solve this problem with some old fashioned bleach. While you never want to pour straight bleach into your fresh water tank, you do want to use a diluted bleach solution. There are numerous how-to articles on the internet describing various methods to accomplish this task. All methods are somewhat time consuming, but getting sick is to.

Andy, You are an affirmed tech lover. But you miss the point completely.
If you want to be able to turn your driving over to the computers in your car be honest and tell us if you really think you are going to be safer, or if you will use the seat time for other tasks such as using your cell phone.

We don’t have to educate the morons as much as force them to change their bad habits. All the technology is already in place but we do not have legislatures with the balls to employ them. Every car and cell phone can be linked so the car will stop or the cell phone turned off when the car is in motion. Nobody needs to look at the center computer display if it is made so it will only respond to voice commands. Tell it to change radio stations or GPS destination. Let it read cell phone texts to you and let it use voice commands to make and receive texts and phone calls. Without such a device the phone or car is disabled when in motion.
While I won’t use the word “moron” in my posts, you’re correct in that some technology is already in place and at this point and you’re correct, it’s not mandatory. Apple has implemented a Do Not Disturb feature in iPhones that allow the phone to stay silent when it detects it’s in a car that’s in motion. Apple Do Not Disturb Feature
In reference to some of your other points, while Apple Car Play and Android Auto allow for hands free messaging in a vehicle, why are we not seeing the converters incorporating these devices? I’ll add that some of the touch screens in motorhomes have become so cluttered, that having basic voice commands that instruct the audio system to switch to a specific XM station would keep the driver’s eyes on the road instead of fumbling with on screen buttons that don’t have a tactile feel.
Some cars will alert a driver if he is nodding off. Use that same technology to keep the driver paying attention to driving or reduce the car’s speed. If the drivers know the car would not perform unless the driver was off the phone, with his eyes on the road and he was not nodding off habits would change quickly. I agree with stabilization control and automatic braking, but since a lot of the braking alerts are the assholes that pass and pull in too close install a loud 130 decibel siren inside all cars so it will engage as long as the driver pulls in ahead of someone with insufficient room. I guarantee nobody will cut in too close if they know their ear drums will suffer every time they don’t allow enough room. Why do I need an alert when I did not tailgate, but had some moron steal my stopping distance. Make the other guy suffer.
While the guerrilla tactic of adding a 130 decibel siren to the interior of a vehicle simply won’t happen, doesn’t it make more sense that if a vehicle’s system determines a driver is nodding off, has a medical emergency or other related issue, that it can simply pull the car safely off the road and alert authorities? To do that, a level of semi autonomous features is required. Heck, the current Apple Watch can determine if the user suffers a fall and contact EMS with your location along with pertinent medical information. Combine this with enhanced automotive features and possibly, the roads could become safer.
I have zero problem if you want your car to drive you, but I don’t want to have a car that doesn’t allow me to drive getting shoved down my throat. There are actually people that like to drive and who are safe and competent. And if my reaction time as I age is slowed, I plan to compensate by allowing more stopping distance, something the morons now driving want to violate.
I think one of the problems is that as we age, we may not realize that our reaction times have slowed. I’ll ask if you’ve spent any seat time in a Prevost that’s equipped with the Prevost Aware system? I truly appreciate this feature and it’s proven to me that that it’s a viable safety device for drivers of all skill levels.
And I want to see every driver required to prove his competency in the vehicle he is driving. If you drive a bus like our coaches I want you to have a suitable driver license. It is insane to require someone to have a motorcycle rating but to allow an incompetent driver to be piloting a 50,000 pound bus with a 6000 pound toad running down the road at 70 MPH.

What if I don’t want to have a self driving car?
It’s no different to those who don’t want a coach that requires DEF. Vote with your wallet and simply don’t buy one.
But remember, these changes come slowly. Personally, I’m scratching my head while more coaches don’t incorporate basic blind spot warning notifications…the same type of systems that have been used in cars for nearly a decade. I think that would be a welcome addition to any bus…commercial or recreational.

Jon: Would it be possible for you and Tom to ride together? Or is that just too much time together in a confined space. That would save $60 per attendee. Remember he has slides now. Asking for a friend.

Wow! Looking back over the last several years, it looks like I have paid anywhere from $79-$119 a year for roadside at Good Sam. As soon as I learned that I do not have to keep my Good Sam membership to have roadside, I let it expire. I do not stay in Good Sam parks or any parks for that matter enough to make it worthwhile.

We have basically zero’ed out our 06 Country Coach mechanically, and have made the upgrades that we want. (Don’t worry, Jeff, we find new things to do everyday)
We have an accrual account for ongoing maintenance, insurance and routine replacements (tires, batteries, etc). Our monthly amount is around $600+ in order to have the funds set aside when the items come due. Your insurance costs may significantly affect a similar calculation.
This does not include any operating expense like fuel, storage, campgrounds, etc.
The big ticket item for you will be getting everything zero’ed out.
