I am on the final stretch of completing the work I am going to do myself to get the Grand Cherokee ready for towing. I am done fishing the air line for the Brakemaster supplemental braking that I have used successfully for years. What made that a problem is so much of the body structure is double walled and contains heat shields for strength, to reduce noise and to reduce heat. Additionally wires and tubes present a potential risk because to gain entry for the air line from beneath the GC to inside the GC I had to be sure to not create an entry point that would damage anything. As it turns out going through the double firewall as suggested is a bad suggestion, but removing a rubber plug and drilling a 1/2″ hole in the Jeep computer plastic case under the driver’s seat was the best option.

Now I just have to create some type of support for the Victron DC to DC charger that I am mounting on a lower panel behind the radiator. Once done the Jeep will go to have the base plate and tail light wiring done by etrailer.

In addition to those items I am going to treat the GC to a new seat track mounted base for the Brankemaster, all new second vehicle valves and parts for the Brakemaster, and finally new power cable and safety cables for the tow bar.

Etrailer is known to some members, and in my dealings with them, and setting up the work I want them to do I am very confident of their expertise and specifically knowledge of the GC itself. If anyone wants to set up a toad the etrailer.com site is an excellent starting point because of the wide range of products they carry for that purpose. But further, they have an extensive video collection showing the steps necessary to install the products used for towing.

I am going to try to document their work which is now scheduled for mid-July.

No matter what tank level sensor system a coach has, a reasonably trouble free method of dealing with various levels is to never ever add water to the system unless the holding tank has been emptied.

I always use the pumping system provided with my coach. I never rely on the municipal water supply for pressure or adequate flow, preferring to only use it to fill my tank.

My sensors may be accurate, but like my fuel gauge they are not the real reason why I refill.

If it is not that, starting around your model year a Vanner Monitor model 70 was used to warn of high or low voltage, or battery imbalance.

If you have a monitor of that type, check voltages at the base of the monitor, usually located on the bulkhead near the chassis batteries and check to insure voltages are within range as stated on the Vanner website. If they are within range the light could be caused by a faulty monitor. I believe battery hi-lo voltage range is 24 to 30.

There may be variations between various Liberty models, but typically the two sensor panels located in the waste tank/generator bay are the master panels.

If they are working the other panels display what they do.

Loose connection? Maybe a bad fuse? I don’t know how they are powered, but they are the ones that have to work.

As far as sensors, there are none. The tank level is displayed based on the head pressure of the contents in the tanik. There is a plastic tube coming from the rear of the black box that sits on each tank. A tiny compressor in that black box pushes any liquid that may have come up into the tube out and the resulting head pressure after the compressor shuts off is measured and displayed on the display panel as a percentage of capacity.

I would start by looking for any reason there is no power to the entire system if both are off.

Hey Harry, not being facetious, but you sure that’s not a “Hot Air” light?

That is actually used on the zip dee awning to pull the pin in the arm allowing the awning to be raised or lowered while in the extended position. It hooks between the side awning arm and the round knob that needs to be pulled to extend the awning upward or lower it once extended.

When ever I change fuel filters on anything I hot soak the injectors with sea foam. Refill filters with sea foam. Run engine a few minutes. Let sit 30 minutes. Re fire engine. Sometimes you get alot of black smoke when restarting . Thats the crap the sea foam is cleaning out.

In my car that is also diesel I can go around 800 miles a tank. I’ve had to dump power service in twice when I’ve ran out. And it’s got me to a fuel station.

Hi John, I never heard of having fuel delivered right to your coach? I’ll check it out… Is there a minimum number of gallons you mush purchase?
