Bad fuel – WoW
I took a nice bus run today and afterwards pulled into my local Walmart for fuel. I don’t have many options here in small town Murphy and this station is easy to get into and out of.
Once I pulled up I see a guy checking the diesel fuel and asked how often the diesel is checked and he said “Annually, unless we get a call with a problem. I asked which one this is and he said a problem. He said someone called thinking there may be gas in the diesel? He said that wasn’t the case and he’s checking for particulates. I said he probably didn’t want someone watching over him and walked back and into my bus.
A few minutes later he walked up and said “If I were you I’d not get diesel here”! So I asked him if he was talking today or ever. His answer was “EVER”! And went on to say that none of these places around town pump enough diesel to have fresh fuel and I’d not use any of it in a motorhome like yours.
I thought coming from a guy who’s job is checking fuel a word from the wise is sufficient!

We have covered this issue but the truth of the matter is places that are selling diesel locally to mostly diesel pick up truck owners just never can pump enough fast enough to always have fresh algae free fuel.
The truck stops along interstates are selling truckloads of fresh fuel daily so those are the go-to places. Until our TSD fuel discount program we had to pay for the quality of that fuel in the form of higher prices, but now we have no real justification to try to pump diesel into our coaches from a dinky little hose, getting the pump turned back on after every $100 of purchases.
The local Sam’s or Murphy’s or Krogers may seem inexpensive but there are risks.

Check around with oil companies in your area. I get fuel delivered right to
the coach. Be sure to order over the road diesel, so you get the right color.

Hi John, I never heard of having fuel delivered right to your coach? I’ll check it out… Is there a minimum number of gallons you mush purchase?

Heck Harry unless your running around town (going to the beer store twice a day) Just fill it when you get through your last trip. That Gen Set and starting it up every once in a while ain’t gonna use much, That is unless I’m next to you and I got a hose.

Hi Glen, I always fill the tank after a trip. But once a month a go for a 40 to 60 mile run. After a few of those I like to fill up again. I also run the generator and all three airs. That’s like you Glen, always putting on airs!

IMO, if the town is big enough to have a WalMart w/fuel, the volume is high enough to keep the fuel fresh.
Everything about WalMart is about high volume sales.

I’ve been doing it for years. My service company does not have a minimum.
That would be a question you want to ask suppliers in your area.
There should be plenty of companies that deliver fuel to construction job sites
and trucking companies. I believe it is a good way to get fresh fuel.
I’ll bet if you run to Jeff’s, you could find someone to go to ETLC and fill you
up if you don’t want to use your TSD card.
