You are right. It was not complete stops, rather slow downs to your cited speeds. Thanks for the correction.

Jon, when they changed the front tires they found the front brake pads were disintegrating as described and shown in pictures. They took the hub apart to see if there was any damaging heat from the tire blow-out, but did not find any. The coach did sit for about two years before we bought it. This was in New Braunfels, northeast of San Antonio–fairly humid. The dealer bought it for him and his wife, but then she passed, and he had a hard time getting rid of it.

I have a box of left over latch parts will look to see if I have what you need. Will explain later how to make simple bypass. Welcome aboard. Bob

Harry: If Jeff did all those things less than two years ago, he is probably your best resource to tell you what it might be to help you narrow it down. That doesn’t mean a two year old bag couldn’t have failed or didn’t got pinched or something else didn’t happened to it. Maybe an air line ruptured because it was chaffing on something; but I’m not sure that would make a “pop”. “Pop” leads me to think of something that contains lots of air (like a bag).

Keep us posted. Quite a few of us are wondering what it could be.

Web Guru Joe says he cannot get it to fail, but he has been suitably spanked about the problem. If failed for me also.

UPDATE!Thanks to suggestion from Ed( Travelingman) I did a “whole coach -shutdown” and it solved the problem. The relay still has a red light ,so will try a new one when it arrives,

We park our bus on stone dust but have to drive across the yard to get there. I have gotten stuck badly in the past before someone told me to lift the tag. With the tag down as soon as the drives spin more weight is transfer to the tag which does not spin. Pretty soon your drives have dug in and you’re sitting on your tags.

I have ridden motorcycles on the road since before I had a driver’s license, and off-road since before that. I have never heard of this “sign of distress.” I ride sport bikes and V-twins, metric and standard, so it is not a motorcycle culture issue.

If I see a bike on the side of the road with the rider present and I am on a motorcycle, I slow and give them a “thumbs up.” If it is returned, I keep going.

If I am in a vehicle, I stop to make sure no help is needed.

Do you know the message an approaching rider is attempting to convey when he/she pats the top of his/her head/helmet?

Mine are not physically linked. I thought they were when I started my rebuild. Found out different.

They are electrically linked. If Art goes this route he will also need 1 Normally Open aux contact for those contactors listed above. This reminded me of that since I don’t have the schematic with me.

When I rebuilt mine I went thru a failure modes and effect analysis to ensure I understood both how it worked normally and when the relay and aux contacts failed either independently or at the same time. As an engineer who works with safety class systems, it is simple and effective. The version I have does not have a timer to delay switching when the generator starts (it is generator priority) nor any under/over voltage nor surge protection.

You can change the steer and tag tires without issue but you will not be able to change the drive tires as they will rub as the wheels are too narrow. I asked about changing out the wheels as well and Prevost put the kibosh on that idea saying that others have tired and failed as it’s simply not setup for that kind of a change. I just keep 12 R 22.5 all around and things go just fine. I have had Michelin (but they are getting very hard to find) Firestone, BF Goodrich and Bridgestone. I think my current tires are Bridgestone. They have all been good. I have had the most trouble with Michelin as they have a serious issue with sidewall cracking. Prevost begged me to get new tires for 2 years before I finally gave in. The tires were 8 and 9 years old. Looked like crap, likely could have gone at any minute but I don’t like changing tires after only 5-6 years.

Looked at the coach this morning. No maintenance or any records since the seller bought it 16 years ago from the original owner. He is a don’t fix it if it ain’t broke type of guy. He has replaced a few items (windshields, alternator, service the generator and maybe a few more small items I forget. That is about all he has done to it. No engine service or tranny service since 03. He did say he put synthetic oil in the motor some time ago. It has a full size bed which definitely wont work for us. The double facing couches are not my favorite layout either. Kind of a bummer.

We switched from AT&T to Verizon because of much better service in the west. AT&T was terrible in Casa Grande, Arizona area. May have improved now this was a couple years ago. Probably just depends on where you are.
