The late ’90s coaches are a bargain in my opinion. You get say 70% of the experience for 20% of the acquisition cost.
We have been reluctant to move up. No doubt there are some nice additional features as you move from our ’99 Marathon to a 2008+-. The value proposition just never worked out for us. We’d have to “invest” another $400-500k to get a somewhat younger coach. It would have slides but it also would have potential delamination and an engine with all the EPA “features” (EGR, DPF,…) and quite a bit more complexity. The slides themselves take away some storage. The newer coach would likely need a lot maintenance (batteries, tires, fluids, shocks, bags, brakes…). Our current one is pretty much up to date on maintenance. All in all, I just don’t see another 500k in value. So we bought a boat instead…..again.

I think a vote needs to be taken, do Tom and Nancy get to park up front with the bus crowd or are they banished to the Wal Mart parking lot !!!!!
Keep in mind the wrong outcome here could result in doubling of the dues money.

Thank you for your service guys!
Both Grandfathers, Father, Uncles, two brothers and my nephew were in the service.
It’s good to be free!

Got one fixed and here is another air leak in Water Bay.
The lower one of these with the RED buttons is leaking?
What’s this one and how do I fix?

So you did not catch my post on your photo posted a few days ago under :On a tight budget?” where I said “Looks like a Renegade”.

We have looked pretty seriously at Leisure Travel for some of the same reasons you espoused…Alaska, and/or areas where BoB is simply too big to travel comfortably or without damage. I would be hesitant to add a lift kit or radically change the suspension because they appear to me to be a bit top heavy in stock form…if you jack them up, that’s certainly not gonna get better. You gain ground clearance, but may loose the ability to drive on civilized roads comfortably. But then again life is a trade off…all depends what you want, and what you’re willing to sacrifice to satisfy the want…

If you like serious rock climbing, then Farmington, NM is where they have the semi national competition in the fall.

I do not think handling or steering is a big deal until you go backwards. I don’t mean backwards as in a Newell is a step back except in the sense the steering or handling might not be as well refined as a Prevost.
It is subtle. My Mercedes wanders, roams, whatever you want to call it compared to my pick up truck or Corvette. It is not even noticeable unless you jump from one to the other and track down the same road or highway. It is then that you notice there is a difference in how a slight extra bit of effort is required to keep it pointed in the right direction.
It might not even be important to most owners. But now that I know how well my coach tracks, steers and handles compared to the conventional RV I drove. It is easy for me to see that a long day behind the wheel in something that isn’t as good as my coach could have an impact on how tired I get and how fast.

I received the TSD card while traveling so haven’t used it yet. On the way back from TN, we filled up at a Loves in VA and used the Profit card. Price was $2.89 less a 10 cent discount so we paid $2.78.
When I got home, I found the TSD that had come in the mail. The literature seemed to say if I got on their web site I could find the net price after savings of many Love’s stations. I got on their web site and it said the price at the same station I filled up at is $2.89, which would appear to be the price at the pump? If that is truly their net price it would have cost me $.10/gallon to use their card. How do I find out what their actual price might be before I start pumping?

HUH. There is a relay in the steering bay for this? What I found was in the back of the coach. I’ll look in the steering bay and see what I can find. This started to happen after a dry spell and before we got lots of rain.
Thanks!

Steve, I almost bought that bus in 2006. I loved the paint scheme and interior lay-out. Hope its a good one for you. Holler if/when you are through Chattanooga.

Kind of scary because at 136,000 it is about 13 or 14% of its life if used in commercial service and is maintained properly.

When you did the oil pan gasket did you replace the isolators? If they have gotten weak the pan will not seal like it should.

John, Two separate and unrelated issues. We should get together sometime.
Part of what we can do is help you understand the coach, the other part to quickly figure out if we are dealing with operator error or a malfunct (that is a technical term).
